NFL Season 2017 Wild Card Weekend: Kansas City Chiefs vs Tennessee Titans on Saturday, January 06, 4:35 PM, Arrowhead Stadium

The Tennessee Titans squared off against the team of Kansas City Chiefs in an NFL AFC’s Wild Card playoff game. Tennessee Titans made an impressive comeback from 21-3 at halftime to 22-21 victory. With this win Titans became one of the eight teams to make it to the next round of the playoffs this season. One of the most outstanding performances was by Marcus Mariota who finished 19-of-31, two touchdowns, passing for 205 yards as well as one interception. However, Derrick lead the Titans to victory after successfully blocking on a third-down which caused a first down which sealed the game for the Titans. Henry became the second running back in Titans history after rushing for 156 yards on 23 carries.

On the other hand, Kansas City Chiefs who have not won a home playoff game since 1994, kicked off the game on a high momentum but were not able to maintain the momentum throughout the game. One of the aspects that prevented the Chiefs from performing to their best was their offense. The Chief’s offense seemed to give up after Kelce suffered a major concussion and the team was unable to move the ball. At one point Adoree Jackson also fumbled a punt and the Titans almost squandered their momentum but the Chiefs did not manage to pick up an easy first down leading to Butker kicking a 48 yards field goal off the upright. We can only wait to see the Titans face either the Jaguars or the Bills in the divisional round.

NFL Season 2017 Week 17: Kansas City Chiefs at Denver Broncos on Sunday, December 31, 4:25 PM, Sports Authority Field@Mile High

The Denver Broncos lost to the Kansas City Chiefs, 24 to 27, ending the Broncos abismal season record of 5-11. The match was a seesaw battle between the two teams up until the 3rd quarter, seeing the Chiefs with a 14 point lead going to the 4th. The Chief’s young guns surely shined this game from leading to a myriad of conversions from left to right. But not to be undone the Broncos fought back and tied the game on the 3rd minute, only to be disheartened by a Harrison Butker 30 yard field goal, in the dying seconds of the game, which was like a dagger to the hearts of Broncos fans.

Overall the Chiefs gave an impressive performance, most notable from the rookies, and even set some records and some stars shined brighter than ever: Patrick Mahomes became the first rookie to start for the Chiefs in more than 30 years and he did not disappoint. Kareem Hunt finished top of the NFL with 1,327 yards to claim the rushing title. Harrison Butker’s 30 yeard game winning field goal moved him up to 5th place for NFL’s all time field goal record list. Anthony Sherman fought his way to give the lead back to the Chief’s 14-10. This was a career day from him because he previously only had 14 yards in 107 career games. Despite the awesome performance and game winning field goal, the Chief’s ended the game with 7 injured.

Because of the conclusion of Miami Dolphins at Kansas City Chiefs, the Dolphins now is officially eliminated from post-season contention. It was a heart-breaking scene when with the final score of 29-13 the Dolphins (6-9) finished with a losing record (since 2006) for the 8th time and 14th time outside the NFL playoff in 16 years. For the Chiefs the win meant more than just winning the game as the win also allowed them to call themselves the AFC West Champions. The win also ensured that the Chief (9-6) will also be hosting a playoff game during January’s first weekend. The game was truly filled with controversies with so many missed tackles and wrongly-timed penalties. But three incidents shocked the fans.

First we have Guard Ted Larsen and his plenty on the second down incompletion which is being stated as very unsportsmanlike gesture. Second was the overthrowing of receiver Jakeem Grant with a screen pass by Jay Cutler on third-and-24, along with Jarvis Landry’s yelling at Coach Adam Gase during this time. And lastly we have Cody Parkey and his attempt of a 48-yard field goal with went to a wide left, and becoming only his second time missing for this year. The game, however, also saw Harrison Butker making 5 (out of 6) field goals which helped him to break the franchise record with 36 this very year.

NFL Season 2017 Week 15: Kansas City Chiefs vs Los Angeles Chargers on Saturday, December 16, 8:25 PM, Arrowhead Stadium

The Chiefs beat the Chargers 30-13, but it is clear that the Chargers are still the better team. The Chargers are a more consistent team right now, and they seem to be clicking on offense. They are making major strides to make their team better, and they will likely go to the playoffs because of their offense. They are better in their division because of this, but they have not been able to win every game the way they should have. They should have beaten the Chiefs, but the Chiefs had a very good day.

The Chiefs were able to put 30 points on the board, and they made it so that the team was able to get out in front and stay there. They made sure that the Chargers could not come back, but it is not clear that they will be able to do that in the future. Someone who is trying to handicap the next game for both teams needs to remember that the Chargers have been more consistent throughout the year. The Chiefs are not in a good spot because we do not know who they are and they do not have an identity. The Chargers will continue to play well despite this loss and are on the way to the playoffs.

NFL Season 2017 Week 14: Kansas City Chiefs vs Oakland Raiders on Sunday, December 10, 1:00 PM, Arrowhead Stadium

The Chiefs have passed through obscure times and difficult moments, but this win against the Raiders raised the team’s spirit again. With Chiefs’ win against the Raiders, the team is now in a good position to become the champions of the AFC West competitions.

If the Chiefs will defeat the Charges in their upcoming match, then the team will claim victory in the AFC West competition. If the Chiefs lost to the Charges in the upcoming match, then things may become ugly. This is because there will be more emphasis on the game against these two strong NFL teams. The Chiefs will only miss playoffs after beating the Chargers to lose to the Broncos, Dolphins or Jets. In the meantime, the match between the Raiders and Chiefs proved tough for both teams at first. Without any iota of doubt, the Chiefs proved to be the stronger side and won the match with an outstanding 26-15 victory.

The game between the Kansas City Chiefs at Cincinnati Bengals was just amusing to watch. Kansas City Chief’s Patrick Mahomes looked and played pretty solid. It’s definitely just exciting to see what more he can do more in the next pre-season games. It’s indubitable that he’s got an undeniable swagger and confidence when he plays. Also, the entire offense was looking good for the Chiefs. The starting quarterback had a great momentum enabling a good offense, which the Chiefs was able to keep throughout the entire game. T. Siemian was seventeen of fourty three for 183-yards and a great interception which was the only TD-drive he led that came after he caught the ball at the Chiefs 6.

Later J. Forsett scored two plays, A.Smith capped a seventy seven yard touch-down with a ten yard keeper in the1st quarter, Hill out-ran the Denver Broncos a few minutes later to give the Kansas City a 14-0 lead.

Forsett made a touch-down that gave the Denver’s team hope which was short lived. Kelce took a pass that followed a great blocking for an eighty yard touch-down and a 21-7 points lead. Denver continued to struggle from there. They turned the ball over again to Kansas City, from another fumble, and they finished the game with an amusing twist.

NFL Season 2016 Week 15: Kansas City Chiefs vs Tennessee Titans on Sunday, December 18, 1:00 PM, Arrowhead Stadium

Bad weather overshadowed the game last Sunday with The Titans and the Chiefs were also facing cold weather with the low temperature and chilly winds. The Titans earner their victory with a game winning field goal, led by Marcus Mariota. The goal that gave the Titans a win was astounding and gave them the 19-17 winning score. The game saw great heights and great play by the Running back Darrick Henry who scored the two touchdowns for the Titans and rushed for 58 yards and set a new career high for himself. Ryan Succop, the kicker scored the winning field goal of 53 yards.

It was the second longest game winning goal in the franchise’s history. The Linebacker Brian Orakpo dropped Alex Smith, the Chief quarterback and had a 58 career sacks in his name. Overall, both teams showed immense skills and Titans were at the season’s low with two penalties to their name. The Chiefs were forced to limit their defenses and limited them to their season low of 13 first downs. With all of the people at the game having to face harsh winds, the game went ahead and become one of the coldest games of the season.

NFL Season 2016 Week 14: Kansas City Chiefs vs Oakland Raiders on Thursday, December 08, 8:25 PM, Arrowhead Stadium

The team of Oakland Raiders squared off against the Kansas City Chiefs in what was a highly anticipated match. Oakland Raiders led by their favorite quarterback, Derek Carr kicked off the match on a high momentum as they tried to earn one more AFC West Division lead by beating the Kansas City Chiefs. On the other hand, the Chiefs led by their favorite quarterback, Alex Smith, tight end Travis Kelce and running back Spencer were on their A game making the match highly competed. In the division race, ramifications were the big deal as the Chiefs 10-3 had a tie with the Oakland 10-3.

However, the Chiefs went on to break the tie with two head-to-head wins which positioned them for their first round playoff with just three regular season games remaining. One outstand moment in the game was when West scored in the first half while Kansas City raced to a 21-3 lead. Though the Chiefs had an injured leader they continued to dominate the match throughout the whole time. Ultimately the better prepared team Kansas City Chiefs won 21-13. This was a big win for the Chiefs and we can only wait to see more from these teams.

NFL Season 2016 Week 13: Kansas City Chiefs at Atlanta Falcons on Sunday, December 04, 1:00 PM, Georgia Dome

A big game played between The Kansas City Chiefs and Atlanta Falcons. The ground was all set with a huge supports of both the teams. The crucial game began with and early possession and lead of The Kansa City Chiefs with a score of 8-3. Many players indulged in the game to put up their personal bests which was really great watching. For Berry it was an emotional home coming. He has performed the best he could and did not disappoint the crowd. In the next quarter chiefs continued to maintain their lead with 9-3 of that quarter and made the night a fantastic one for the crown to enjoy and dance.

The NFC Falcons then took a lead in the third quarter wit 7-5 which was made the game interesting and there was a sudden report of injury. James Mathew the left tackle of falcons was taken out as he suffered an injury and left with a knee sprain. The game went off with complete clean passes and finally the crucial last quarter was up ahead in which the falcons got a starting lead. There were not able to maintain the lead although they scored many goals in the last quarter but the final results came in the favor of Chiefs with a final score of 29-28 with a crucial last minute victory of the Chiefs.

NFL Season 2016 Week 12: Kansas City Chiefs at Denver Broncos on Sunday, November 27, 4:25 PM, Sports Authority Field

The match was played on Sunday at Sports Authority Field. In fact, it is the second game the Broncos have lost in three games. They previously lost points against the Raiders and are currently at position seven in the AFC. Denver Broncos, who are the Super Bowl defending champions are left with an uphill task in the remaining five weeks of the season.

Denver lost the game in the crossing minutes when kicker Brandon McManus attempted a 62-yard field goal, but failed. The kicker slammed his right foot into the grass, which leads to a low drive kick. This was rewarding to the Kansas City Chiefs as they capitalized on the opportunity and set up Cairo Santos’ 34-yard winner as the overtime expired. Actually, it turned out to be a big win for the Kansas City Chiefs, who seem to get bigger and bigger in every game.

It all happened when Kubiak called on Brandon to try the kick. If McManus had not attempted the kick, the game was destined for a 27-27 tie. However, once the attempt backfired and the Chiefs capitalized on it, they won the game 30-27.

All in all the spectacular finish was fantastic for a match in NFL’s best division.

NFL Season 2016 Week 11: Kansas City Chiefs vs Tampa Bay Buccaneers on Sunday, November 20, 1:00 PM, Arrowhead Stadium

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers met the Kansas City Chiefs on November 20, 2016, at the Arrowhead Stadium in Kansas City, Missouri. The Chiefs took a hard loss against the Bucs on their home turf. The question is: what went wrong in Sunday’s game? There was a lot of buzzes blaming the Chiefs coach, Andy Reid, around the play calling in the red zone. The timing, efficiency, and planning were a few things that were mentioned lacking in execution. But it was not just about execution. There were three important starters sidelined during the game. Dee Ford, linebacker, was nursing a hamstring injury and unavailable for the second half. And it would have been hard to miss the absence of Jeremy Maclin, receiver, and Marcus Peters, cornerback, from the outset of the game.

But the biggest bungle of the night was with Alex Smith, quarterback, leading up the charge. It was Smith’s pass to the end zone that allowed Chris Conte, safety, to intercept and return 53 yards for the game. Needless to say, this season is unpredictable at best. The Chiefs need to get their heads on straight, as they are on the cusp to the postseason. If this game was any indication, this season will be a tough one.

NFL Season 2016 Week 10: Kansas City Chiefs at Carolina Panthers on Sunday, November 13, 1:00 PM, Bank of America Stadium

Kansas City Chiefs at Carolina Panthers will be much fun. Newton just rushed for the important 54 yards and a famous score, and scored another TD and passed for just 261 yards. He also worked hard to take the tea out of the important field goals range in the 3rd quarter. But he also had a truly bad interception in the fourth quarter that Berry turned into a TD right away. Stewart did not do much in the game, as he carried 39 yards 13 times, and just with a long of just 10. Whittaker took the place of Stewards at the end of this game.

Mr. Whittaker just caught a pass for 9 yards. The famous Panthers just finished with the important 99 yards. The defense of Kansas City just gave up two hundred to Jacksonville last week. Benjamin just pulled in 7 catches for a total of 84 yards. The Chiefs arranged to create a winning field goal in the final minute of the game, while Olsen just added 5 catches, though he had just 2 drops. Funches just also had a useful 38-yard TD catch.

NFL Season 2016 Week 9: Kansas City Chiefs vs Jacksonville Jaguars on Sunday, November 06, 1:00 PM, Arrowhead Stadium

Jacksonville Jaguars suffered yet another upset on the road which can largely be attributed to their ineptness on the offense. Kansas City Chiefs needed to pile pressure on the Jags on fourth down with slightly less than two minutes of play deep in their own territory to preserve the 19-14 win for maximum points in the quest to bring home the first ever Arrowhead AFC Championship.

A positive thing for the Jags to pick from this match is that their defense only allowed 221 yards and 10 first downs. The defense managed to hold Chiefs to 1 of 14 on third downs and went on to hold the Chiefs to field goals after turnovers in Jaguars territory. Jaguars defense proceeded to hold the Kansas City Chiefs to a field goal from a 36-yard punt return which returned possession to City in Jaguars territory.

Cairo Santos was on a different level of form and starred in the match by making 24, 52, 26, and 36 yard field goals for the Kansas City Chiefs. Allen Robinson received a perfect throw from Blake Bortles in Chiefs’ territory for a touchdown and a kick was made by Jason Myers to keep the game close.

In the fourth quarter, the Jaguars rallied to within five points after trailing 10-0 and 19-7 but lost a clear chance to win the game after taking possession in Chiefs’ territory with 3:07 remaining.

NFL Season 2016 Week 8: Kansas City Chiefs at Indianapolis Colts on Sunday, October 30, 12:00 PM, Lucas Oil Stadium

Kansas City Chiefs faced off against Indianapolis Colts in a match that saw Chiefs beat Colts 30-14 and gain their third consecutive win. The Chiefs defense performed exceptionally well, giving the Colts offense a hard time throughout the match. However, fans will be watching the Chiefs offense in the upcoming match. One key moment of the game was when Alex Smith was removed from the game a second time but this time for good after taking hard hits to the head. On the other hand, Nick Foles had a flawless game throwing two touchdowns.

Andrew Luck struggled with Colts offense and had to be sacked six times. We can only wait to see the Chiefs performance when they face Jaguars. The Colts will face Packers. Alex Smith impressively threw for 153 yards, unfortunately he fumbled once and had to picked off twice. Another player who fumbled was Knile Davis setting up the Chief with several penalties. Due to many penalties the Chiefs could not have a second-half comeback. During the last quarter of the match Smith was picked by Freeman and the quarterback fumbled away while only 3; 24 was left. There was hardly any chance for the Colts to win by now as little time was left.

This was a huge win for Kansas City Chiefs and fans are eager to see their performance in upcoming matches.

NFL Season 2016 Week 7: Kansas City Chiefs vs New Orleans Saints on Sunday, October 23, 1:00 PM, Arrowhead Stadium

The Saints versus the Chiefs had an exciting battle that went down to the wire in Kansas City on Sunday. While the Saints earned the first points of the day, the Chiefs were quick to take control of the game, and the Saints found themselves at the wrong end of a 21-7 hole. However, as so many teams over the years have found out, you can never sleep on a talent like Drew Brees, who ended the day with 367 passing yards and three touchdowns on 37 for 48. The Saints refused give up the ghost, and after working the lead down to a field goal with 2:33 left to play, had an onside kick find its way out of bounds.

The illegal procedure call eventually gifted the Chiefs a field goal of their own and the ability to run the clock down to a paltry 28 seconds. Along the way, Alex Smith showed some flashes of brilliance, getting the ball to Tyreek Hill on a long bomb down the sideline, and a nifty catch and run by the ever dangerous Spencer Ware. A bright spot of the Saints would be young Michael Thomas who put up a whopping 130 yards on ten catches.

NFL Season 2016 Week 6: Kansas City Chiefs at Oakland Raiders on Sunday, October 16, 4:05 PM, Oakland Coliseum

After an embarrassing start this NFL season, the Kansas City Chiefs were able to finally bag a win. This came after losing their last four games and a bye week to ruminate over. The Oakland Raiders received the beating right at their home ground with the game ending 26-10. This put the two teams at a draw in the loss column in the division and will be in the near future battling for supremacy.

The Chiefs managed to run 183 yards and throw 223 yards with three touchdowns which is one of their best performances. Their quarterback Alex Smith was particularly very helpful. Though he was not able to make a touchdown pass, he was able to complete 19 of the 23 passes he received. Another commendable team member is Jamaal Charles who managed to make a score and run 33 yards this being only his second game after ACL surgery. Spence Ware managed a touchdown and 131 yards run.

The Raiders on the other hand only managed 286 yards and converted four third downs. Unlike the Chiefs’ Smith who was sacked once, Carr was sacked twice. He failed the team further by throwing an interception.

NFL Season 2016 Week 4: Kansas City Chiefs at Pittsburgh Steelers on Sunday, October 02, 8:30 PM, Heinz Field

The Pittsburgh Steelers completely stomped the Chiefs with an overwhelming victory of 43-14 thanks to Ben Roethlisberger’s excellent passing skills which scored the team five touchdowns in the first 3 quarters of the game.

In the 1st quarter alone, the Steelers scored 3 touchdowns coming from Roethlisberger’s magnificent passing. On the 2nd and 3rd quarters, the Steelers continued to dominate over the Chiefs with their powerful offense coming from their passers and their excellent defense that thwarted any of the Chief’s attempts to score.

It was only during the last quarter of the game when the Chiefs managed to pull through and get a score thanks to Alex Smith’s passing, leading to two touchdowns from Tyreek Hill and Travis Kelce. Unfortunately for the Chiefs, their efforts were not enough to come back from the massive 29-point lead that the Steelers had even with Kelce’s endgame touchdown during the last 4 seconds of the game.

Roethlisberger’s passing and field vision was certainly a huge factor in the Steelers’ win over the Chiefs. The triple touchdowns scored from his passes during the 1st quarter of the game were enough to fuel the team’s morale, catapulting them to the win. Add to that the relatively poor defense that the Chiefs put up, the Steelers victory wasn’t much of a surprise.

NFL Season 2016 Week 3: Kansas City Chiefs vs New York Jets on Sunday, September 25, 4:25 PM, Arrowhead Stadium

The game ended with a twenty four to three win for the City Chiefs at the Arrowhead Stadium. Through the entire game, City’s offense was enthusiastic and tactful whereas Ryan Fitzpatrick was the worst of the jets because he missed six interceptions. The day ended with the quarterback’s statistics being at 188 yards with no touchdowns and completion of 20 passess of a possible 40. In addition, Marshal and Powell each fumbled at a point in the game. Chan Gailey made the play calls that left a lot to desire despite the awful execution.

Amidst the catastrophic mistakes, Kansas City acquired all their 17 points from turnovers. Alex Smith played a major role in their defense with a 237 yard throw and 25 scores of 33 passes. Kelce had one touchdown and conerback Peters made two interceptions. However, Johnson was the only defender that scored out of a pick.

With the loss, the jets are now in the 1-2 season. Their poor performance was unexpected because they had 11 days to rest and prepare after dominating their game with Buffalo. There is nothing left for the jets to do but to try and pick up the pieces in their next game with Seattle Seahawks in East Rutherford, presumably not an easy task.

NFL Season 2016 Week 2: Kansas City Chiefs at Houston Texans on Sunday, September 18, 1:00 PM, NRG Stadium

In a game that saw five turnovers, including near back-to-back turnovers in the first quarter, the Kansas City Chiefs failed to find a way into the end zone against the Houston Texans. In fact, all 12 of the Chiefs points that came in their 19-12 loss to the Texans were marked by Cairo Santos. Alex Smith performed to a decent enough caliber completing 20 passes on 37 attempts for 186 yards, but his offense was too often set back on crucial turnovers. As Smith lined up in the shotgun, an ill-performed snap went over his head and was recovered inside their own 30 yard line by the Houston defense.

Later, Demetrius Harris caught a rope for a first down giving the Chiefs position inside the red zone, unfortunately, he immediately fumbled the ball and it was recovered by Houston’s backfield. To pile up the problems, Spencer Ware lost the ball inside the Texans’ territory. When it was picked up by Kevin Johnson, he managed to return it to inside the Chiefs’ red zone. Deandre Hopkins was the star of the show as he took in 7 receptions for 113 yards, including a touchdown after an impressive swim move over the top of the Chiefs secondary.

NFL Season 2016 Week 1: Kansas City Chiefs vs San Diego Chargers on Sunday, September 11, 1:00 PM, Arrowhead Stadium

The match was held in Kansas city, Missouri on 11 of September. In this no surprise Kansas city chiefs emerge as victorious over the San Diego Chargers by 33-27. As for the last 3 times they have been victorious. This time the Chiefs worked a lot on their defense. Previous time Chiefs defense easily gives San Diego 5 points. The Chargers were playing a good game and it was looking like they would surprise the crowd, but the Chargers blew everything afterwards by giving away a 21 point lead. Melvin Gordon had 14 carries for 57 yards, an average of 4.1 yards per carry, and 2 TDs.

The injury to Keenam Allen seemed to be turning the game difficult for the Chargers. The way the chargers’ defensive line played previously was encouraging and it was good to see that Brandon Mebane is in good form, taking almost half of the snaps. However the play previously shown was declined and worst to see as the game went for teh Chargers. Dwight Lowery played all defensive snaps, which shows that how exhausted they looked out there. Lowery’s skill set is a whole different thing, but having him out on every snap certainly did not help.

NFL Preseason 2016 Week 4: Kansas City Chiefs vs Green Bay Packers on Thursday, September 01, 8:00 PM, Arrowhead Stadium

The preseason finale that went down on Thursday September first was quite a spectacle. The Kansas City Chiefs took advantage of their home ground and won 17-7 against the visiting Green Bay Packers. Both Coaches Andy Reid and McCarthy played backups almost the entire game. Among the notable ones is the rookie Joe Callahan from Division III Wesley College who threw 143 yards and managed a touchdown. He played almost the whole game and was a crucial part in achieving the win. Callahan strives to become number 3 after Aaron Rodgers and Brett Hundley. Nile Davis of the Kansas City ran 15 times, 58 yards and managed a touchdown. Darrin Reaves also ran 63 yards and managed a touchdown for the team.

This game marked the debut of Green Bay’s punter Jacob Shum who replaced the veteran punter Tim Masthay. In the first quarter the Chief’s had their third three-and-out. Their wide receiver Ty Montgomery blocked Dustin Colquitt’s punt. Chief’s Eric Berry sat out in this game. Well, he had only practised for two days after signing the contract with the team. It is however expected that he will be ready for the regular season games and should give a good performance on the field. The SS who played for the chief was Eric Murray who had a pair of tackles.

NFL Preseason 2016 Week 3: Kansas City Chiefs at Chicago Bears on Saturday, August 27, 1:00 PM, Soldier Field

The Kansas City Chiefs at Chicago Bears was also a very highly awaited game. The defense had most of its key starters. The unit was made much stronger than it has been in the previous matches. There was however some points of concern starting with Justin Houston’s health which made him unable to play as was expected by most of the fans. The back side end of the defense would include Maclin deep and Kelce. Smith on the other hand was the one who made deep throws for the team. Travis Kelce was able to run numerous patterns which worked in their favor as he was able to duck a number of touch downs.

He became the most consistent receiver through out the game and made it very interesting to follow. Chris Jones was making a debut in this game as the rookie and there were a lot of expectations placed on him. The defensive lineman was able to get into the backfield during the forth and the first play. He was able to carry out a couple of tackles which worked very well for the benefit of the team.

NFL Preseason 2016 Week 2: Kansas City Chiefs at Los Angeles Rams on Saturday, August 20, 9:00 PM, Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum

The game between the Kansas City Chiefs and the Los Angeles Rams was very close, the Rams won with a 21-20 victory. If there was an extra minute of play, the Chiefs could have easily turned this game into a tied victory for both teams. It was a great NFL game, and one of my favourites. Full of action-packed play and sportsmanship from both sides. Todd Gurley scored in his debut, which was definitely exciting to watch. Within the first quarter of the match, RB Spencer Ware from the Chiefs took a 2-yard run, resulting in a touchdown – putting the Chiefs 7 points in the lead.

This was levelled out when Todd Gurley took a 3-yard carry, resulting in a score. This left the game score at 7-7 by the end of the first quarter. By the end of the 2nd quarter, the Chiefs were 6 points ahead with an overall score of 20-14. The rams only managed to make this up in the fourth quarter, when Malcolm Brown caught a 10-yard pass from Jared Goff, ending in a touchdown. This gave them 7 points, leaving the total score at 21-20 to the Rams.

NFL Preaseason 2016 Week 1: Kansas City Chiefs vs Seattle Seahawks on Saturday, August 13, 4:30 PM, Arrowhead Stadium

The Seattle Seahawks faced off against the Kansas City Chiefs in a highly competed NFL preseason match at Arrowhead Stadium in Kansas City. This was an interesting match as it was the first time that the Seattle Seahawks did not have their favorite player Marshawn Lynch. The chiefs dominated the first hour of the match with a touch down from Alex Smith and three field goals from the renowned Cairo Santos. On the other hand Steven Hauschka scored 3 goals for the Seahawks.

Trevone Boykin saved the day after engineering 88-yard touchdown in four plays. This performance beat Tanner McEvoy’s 37-yard score giving the team a win. Tyvis Pope hit the 2-point conversion and since no time was left his performance lead Seattle Seahawks to a 17-16 victory.Jake Heaps was competing with Boykin to be Russel Wilson’s backup. Jake Heaps ended up replacing Russell and made some significant improvements for his team in spite of a few hiccups during the final drive.

The Chiefs were surprisingly flagged for having 12 players on the field and the ball was moved to the 1 and Pope scored. Ultimately, the Seahawks won when McEvoy out-positioned Malcolm Jackson and there was no more time remaining. These teams have already squared off in this year and we cannot wait for the coming game.

Kansas City Chiefs NFL season 2015 recap

Kansas City won eleven straight games this season (ten straight in the regular season and one in the playoffs) before losing to the Patriots in the divisional round. Not bad for a team that, after winning their first game of the season, lost five straight, putting them at 1-5. They finished with a total of twelve wins and six losses.

They were able to start the season off by beating Houston for their first win of the season, and they were able to blowout Houston (30-0 in Houston) for their last win of the season. After losing five straight, they were able to turn their season around by beating the Pittsburgh Steelers, who also made the playoffs this year.

Quarterback Alex Smith started all sixteen games for the Chiefs this season throwing 470 passes, completing 307 of them for 3,486 yards, twenty touchdowns and seven interceptions.

The Chiefs scored an average of 25.3 points per game, which is good for ninth in the league, and they rushed for an average of 127.8 yards per game, which was good enough for sixth best in the league. These were strong areas for the Chiefs this year. They were weakest in passing yards, they averaged 203.4 yards per game. They were near the bottom in this category, thirtieth in the league. Total yards they were weak in this category too; they put up an average of 331.2 yards per game; 26 teams in the league had a higher average than this.

NFL Season 2015 Divisional Playoffs: Kansas City Chiefs at New England Patriots on Saturday, January 16, 4:35 PM, Gillette Stadium

The first scoring drive was a touchdown thrown to Gronkowski to put the Patriots up 7-0, but a few minutes later the Chiefs responded with a field goal by Cairo Santos. That had been the only scoring in the first quarter. During the second quarter, Tom Brady found his way in for another touchdown, and Santos and the Chiefs responded again with a field goal, making the score 14-6 at the half.

The low scoring quarters were still prevalent in the third as Grownkowski scored his second touchdown of the game, and Kansas City responded with their own touchdown by Albert Wilson. Stephen Gostkowski kicked in two field goals in the fourth putting the game just out of reach from the Cheifs, although they did try to make a comeback with a touchdown by Charcandrick West. The game was ended when the Chiefs tried for an onside kick with about a minute remaining, the kick was secured by the Patriots for the 27-20 win.

Later that day, the Green Bay Packers visited the University of Phoenix Stadium to take on the Arizona Cardinals. The Cardinals came out with the only points in the first quarter as Carson Palmer threw the ball to Michael Floyd for a touchdown, putting the Cardinals up 7-0.

NFL Season 2015 Wild Card Weekend: Kansas City Chiefs at Houston Texans on Saturday, January 09, 4:35 PM, NRG Stadium

The NFL keeps lining up rivals and the Chiefs continue knocking them down. Kansas City won their eleventh straight amusement in the wake of starting the season 1-5. Defense dominated the day for K.C. until the offense opened up late against a wilting Texans D. The Chiefs constrained five turnovers, with four picks and a constrained bungle. The guarded line dominated a Duane Brown-less Houston hostile line. With the Texans offense threatening early, guarded end Allen Bailey bull surged left handle Chris Clark back into quarterback Brian Hoyer forcing a bumble, which the Chiefs recouped.

Kansas City endured an enormous blow in the second half when Jeremy Maclin was discounted with a knee injury. The wideout left the amusement with three gets for 29 yards on four targets. Maclin drove the Chiefs’ pass assault all season, compiling 1,088 yards on 87 gatherings and eight touchdown gets.

J.J. Watt was the center of the Chiefs’ offense. The protective lineman got twofold teamed and chipped regularly – Maclin even blocked Watt on one early pass play. Reid keenly composed play calls to keep Watt from impacting the amusement. The Chiefs ran beneficiary screens, plane ranges, and zone peruses to maintain a strategic distance from the two-time Defensive.

NFL Season 2015 Week 17: Kansas City Chiefs vs Oakland Raiders on Sunday, January 03, 1:00 PM, Arrowhead Stadium

The Kansas City Chiefs thrashed the Oakland Raiders by 23 – 17 to keep their momentum straight as they head into their playoff opener next weekend at Houston. They made this possible without their two key men and that was Running Back Jamaal Charles who had been sidelined for the most part of the season with a knee injury as well as their Linebacker Justin Houston ho also had his knee injured. Their season had been on the brink after a five game losing streak but they recovered to do a ten game winning streak that has gotten them to where they are now. Two of these ten victories come courtesy of the Raiders.

Mustering only a field goal in what is their last game in Oakland, which came at the final minutes thanks to a connection of 31 yards between Carr and Michael Crabtree. With a minute and a half left on the clock, they did finally get one back but Carr took a final sack which saw the game drag until the time had expired. Overall it was a well deserved win for the Chiefs and no one really didn’t see it coming as the Chiefs have been on fire in their last ten games.

NFL Season 2015 Week 16: Kansas City Chiefs vs Cleveland Browns on Sunday, December 27, 1:00 PM, Arrowhead Stadium

The Browns came close to coming back in this game, they got the ball back at their own thirty, with almost two minutes left, but no timeouts. Manziel also converted on a fourth and ten, inside Chief territory, but was unable to parlay this with another play, due to the fact that time expired shortly after.

Alex Smith completed fifteen of his 22 pass attempts, throwing for 125 yards, two touchdowns, and one interception. He also had 54 rushing yards after six carries.

Johnny Manziel completed thirteen passes after 32 attempts, throwing for 136 yards, no touchdowns, and one interception. He also had 108 rushing yards after eleven carries; he had the most rushing yards in the game. He seems to be getting more confidence from his coaches because he has started six games this season, already three times the amount of starts he got last season.

Kansas City scored all seventeen of their points in the first half, while only giving up three points by halftime. Cleveland would score ten unanswered points in the second half, while the Chiefs became a little sluggish on offense. At the same time, Manziel was able to get it together and almost brought the Browns back to win.

NFL Season 2015 Week 15: Kansas City Chiefs at Baltimore Ravens on Sunday, December 20, 1:00 PM, M&T Bank Stadium

On Sunday, the Baltimore Ravens also lost to the Kansas City Chiefs. The Chiefs scored 34-14 against the Ravens. The chiefs have registered eight straight wins while the Ravens have now lost ten games. The Chiefs’ win is attributed to the balance they had between their offense and defense. The Ravens this season have been unlucky with 18 players being injured. These injuries have forced the team to have numerous turn overs especially in in the quarterback spot. The Ravens have been forced to play most of their games while on the road.

The Ravens were initially confident before the match. The Chiefs’ Marcus Peter intercepted Jimmy Clausen’s touchdown during the second half. Peter managed to make two interceptions during the game. Jimmy Clausen played quarterback in the place of Matt Schaub. Clausen during the first half threw a 281-yard to Kamar Aiken. Kamar went for eight receptions and a touchdown in 128 yards. We cannot fail to recognize Charcandrick West’s contribution towards the Chief’s win. West on 16 carries ran 76 yards and made a touchdown. West filled in for Spencer Ware, who was the injury reserve and he did not disappoint. Alex Smith held the Chiefs’ offense, he completed 21 throws for 171 yards with no interception and a touchdown.

NFL Season 2015 Week 14: Kansas City Chiefs vs San Diego Chargers on Sunday, December 13, 1:00 PM, Arrowhead Stadium

The Kansas City Chiefs saw their reliance again on their defense to grab another victory against the Chargers with just a 3 – 10 win. This takes the Chiefs to six games all win and this puts them right in the mix for playoff contention. They literally shut down San Diego Chargers most of the game and this is what proved o be the deciding factor in the game. Phillip Rivers had two incomplete passes in the dying seconds of the game near the goal line that actually meant that the Chiefs hang on to the victory.

The Chiefs (8 – 5) have actually made it almost impossible for any team to get into the end zone. This was highly evidenced in this game which could prove to be a playoff spot for the Chiefs who have somehow earned it. Melvin Gordon gave what can only be termed as a dismal performance yet again following this loss. Overall, I wasn’t a bad game and amid all the cheering from the crowd, you could tell that the game was a really good one and everyone enjoyed himself. Now it is time fro the teams to forget this and focus on the next one and hope that the playoffs which can be a wild card will work in their favor.

NFL Season 2015 Week 13: Kansas City Chiefs at Oakland Raiders on Sunday, December 06, 4:05 PM, O.co Coliseum

This Sunday, the exciting match between the Kansas City Chiefs and the Oakland Raiders at NFL ranked a head-to-head 7-5, with Chiefs gaining the upper hand. Despite a very tough and brave attempt from Derek Carr, the Raiders saw a depressing loss, while the Chiefs moved on with their heads held high. While the Chiefs were swiftly racing towards January, the Raiders couldn’t have afforded another loss, so we can expect this defeat to come off to them as especially expensive.

The prospects for Derek Carr himself didn’t look to bleak however, as he managed to become the fifth passer in NFL history to throw for 3,000-plus yards and 20-plus touchdowns in his first two seasons. As for others, Alex Smith did a pretty good job for the Chiefs, making him the third player in league history to attempt 300-plus throws in a row without a pick.

It was all sealed once Sebastian Janikowski missed an extra point in the first half of gameplay, the Chiefs now had a huge advantage which they made perfect use of. They broke a 20-20 tie in the fourth quarter by defeating the Raiders to the core in this NFL smackdown.

NFL Season 2015 Week 12: Kansas City Chiefs vs Buffalo Bills on Sunday, November 29, 1:00 PM, Arrowhead Stadium

On the wet and sloppy Sunday afternoon in a densely packed Arrowhead Stadium in Kansas City, Missouri, the Kansas City chiefs (6-5, 3-2) subdued the visiting Buffalo Bills (5-6, 3-3) to an exhilarating 30-22 win. After a tough opening drive, and falling behind 10-0 in the first quarter of the match, Kansas City Chief’s star player Alex Smith made an impressive throw of 255 yards and 2 touchdowns to seal their victory in the game.

Spencer Ware made a dash for 114 yards while Superstar Jeremy Maclin had 9 receptions for 160 yards and a touchdown.

It is the fifth straight victory for the chiefs and cements their position in their quest for the playoffs with only five games left in the AFC regular season. Both teams heavily sustained injuries. Kansas Chief all pro linebacker Justin Houston sustained a knee injury after tripping in the heated first half. His teammate Mitch Morse sustained a concussion while left tackle Eric Fisher sustained a neck injury and both left the field.

The Bills had their fair share of injuries too, as their highly regarded defensive linesman Alex Carrington hurt his right knee while Karlos Williams, the Buffalo’s running back hurt his left shoulder. The Bills gave an outstanding and impressive performance that will definitely leave fans yearning for their AFC appearance.

NFL Season 2015 Week 11: Kansas City Chiefs at San Diego Chargers on Sunday, November 22, 8:30 PM, Qualcomm Stadium

The Kansas City Chiefs delivered what is one of the most devastating defeats of the night as well as the season by beating the San Diego Chargers 33 – 3. The KC Chiefs defense looks solid now more than ever and it is due to this that they were able to keep any attempts by the Chargers for a touchdown at bay. This means that the Chargers now have a six game losing streak and it is no looking good for them at all. The offense of the Chiefs as well as the defense was just the show of the game and this is what delivered them the victory.

Charcandrick West scored his first NFL touchdown in this game. According to stats, Dontari Poe, the heaviest NFL player at the moment scored his offensive touchdown which is also a record in the NFL history. At halftime, the San Diego Chargers’ LaDainian Tomlinson was inducted into the hall of fame and his famous number 21 was retired. Three players suffered concussions with tow from the Chargers with RT Joe Barksdale suffering a hip injury. The game was mostly one sided and this is why the Chiefs carried the day but they deserved it as the Chargers never showed zeal to win this game.

NFL Season 2015 Week 10: Kansas City Chiefs at Denver Broncos on Sunday, November 15, 4:25 PM, Sports Authority Field at Mile High

The Kansas City Chiefs made a run at one of the toughest defenses in the league, the Denver Broncos. This time, the Chiefs manhandled the Broncos 29-13.

Peyton Manning had a terrible day at quarterback. He went 5 for 20 for 35 yards before being benched in the third quarter and replaced by backup quarterback Brock Osweiler. Manning had been battling injuries and this time it seemed the injuries were too much for him to make the big plays he is used to making.

This crushing loss to the Chiefs leaves the Broncos with a 2 game losing streak and a record of 7-2. Not the way a team wants to enter the second half of the football season with all eyes on trying to make the playoffs.

The win for the Chiefs gives them a record of 4-5 and gives them hope of making the playoffs this season.

Coach Gary Kubiak of the Broncos made the move to replace Manning at quarterback with the longtime backup Osweiler. Osweiler went 14 of 24 for 126 yards with 1 touchdown and 1 interception. It is worth noting Manning threw for 4 interceptions and no touchdowns. Make no mistake, Peyton Manning will be back under center soon.

NFL Season 2015 Week 8: Kansas City Chiefs vs Detroit Lions on Sunday, November 01, 9:30 AM, Arrowhead Stadium

Coach Jim Caldwell (for the Lions) cautioned us this week that the offense wouldn’t look vastly different with such a short turnaround from Monday’s progressions and a long excursion to England. He was correct, it didn’t look vastly different. The hostile line neglected to ensure Matthew Stafford (six sacks), which has been a noteworthy issue now and again this season. Detroit needed to forsake their run diversion once they fell behind and were only 2-of-12 on third down. Stafford was under coercion the majority of the challenge and exacerbated matters by tossing two first-half captures that put the Lions in a 24-3 halftime opening.

All the discussion this week in England has been about the offense and the progressions to that guiding staff, yet the guard has been generally as punishable in the group’s 1-7 begin and that was surely the case on Sunday. Kansas quarterback Alex Smith took on the Lions vigorously, with all arms and legs. He set a vocation high to rush yards 18 minutes into the diversion and completed with 223 aggregate yards (78 surging, 145 passing) and three aggregate touchdowns. Kansas City scrambled for 198 yards absolute in the diversion, the second most noteworthy aggregate set up on the Lions this season (199 in a Week 2 misfortune in Minnesota).

NFL Season 2015 Week 7: Kansas City Chiefs vs Pittsburgh Steelers on Sunday, October 25, 1:00 PM, Arrowhead Stadium

If you missed the Sunday game between Steelers and Chiefs then you missed a good game. During their previous games, the Steelers have proved that they were the team to beat up until their recent game against the chiefs. This time round luck was on the chiefs when they took advantage of some of the missed tackles by the Steelers to raise their score to a 23-13 win. In an interview Steers linebacker Jarvis said he wished the team could take back those missed tackles.

He admits that this wasn’t a good round for them but the team promises to correct all the mistakes made in that game. On the other hand, the chiefs were happy with the outcome of the game by leading the game with a 9-3 score during half time, even through Cam Heyward claimed that the chiefs played the game with a lot of desparacy. Either way, am sure Chief’s fans really enjoyed a good game that led to their team’s victory.

NFL Season 2015 Week 6: Kansas City Chiefs at Minnesota Vikings on Sunday, October 18, 1:00 PM, TCF Bank Stadium

After a victory in his first preseason game as a head instruct, Mike Zimmer will lead the Minnesota Vikings towards the Arizona Cardinals.

In closing week’s victory, Matt Asiata rushed for a 1-yard touchdown to lead the Vikings in the 10-6 victory over Oakland. Unfastened agent signing Kurt Coleman additionally intercepted a bypass. This game marks the first preseason meeting between Minnesota and Arizona since 2004.

This can mark the very last domestic preseason recreation in 2014. The Vikings will go back to TCF financial institution Stadium Week 2 of the everyday season to keep the Vikings two-year stay at the campus of the college of Minnesota. The Vikings will play the 2014 and 2015 falls at TCF bank Stadium while the team’s new stadium is being constructed downtown on the equal site because the Metrodome. Subsequent Saturday the Vikings will tour to Kansas metropolis to play the Chiefs in their third preseason recreation while Arizona will host Cincinnati on Sunday.

NFL Season 2015 Week 5: Kansas City Chiefs vs Chicago Bears on Sunday, October 11, 1:00 PM, Arrowhead Stadium

Initially, the Chiefs started this match on a good footing. They were in the lead very early in the match thanks to two surprisingly brilliant touchdowns. Everything was going on fine for the Chiefs then suddenly, Charles went down with an Injury deep inside the Chicago Bears territory. He was immediately helped to the Locker room. Disaster struck the Chief’s Line up once Charles left and the Bears started to take the lead. There is no doubt that the Chiefs did exceptionally before they lost Charles, but his contribution to their initial lead soon became history. It is worthy of note that the Chiefs lost this Match to the Bears at the scoreline of 18-17 in a spectacular fashion that has not been seen in a long time. This is the worst loss for the Chiefs ever to be remembered considering the fact that the Chiefs were in the lead with a scoreline of 17-3 before Charles’ injury.

Even after Charles’ Injury, the Chiefs were still in the lead with three minutes left in the Match. The Bears rallied to score a touchdown from a beautiful pass from Cutler to make it 17-12. As if the Chiefs have not been tortured enough, they were in the lead with 18 seconds to go when the bears got a penalty and won the match 18-17.

NFL Season 2015 Week 4: Kansas City Chiefs at Cincinnati Bengals on Sunday, October 04, 1:00 PM, Paul Brown Stadium

Bengals still have the reason to raise their flag even higher after beating Chiefs ruthlessly on the 4th October 2015. The team has been on a high momentum for quite a good number of previous matches and they had no reason whatsoever to lose in this one.

Confidence was the main ticket to Bengals’ commanding win. The team has been performing quite well in the previous matches and this is why they faced Chiefs with a lot of confidence.

The strong defense mechanism that Bengals had was another profound reason behind their win. Most analysts termed Bengals’ defense as opportunistic. It was indeed opportunistic in the sense that plays were made only when necessary. The main support in the game was offered to the front team. The main strategy in the Bengals vs Chiefs game was to lame the strikers for the latter as a way of discouraging scores. The chiefs were not able to counter the strategy hence warranting them an automatic loss.

The dramatic win for the Bengals is certainly a fueling factor to more wins in the long run. More shouts of victory should be expected at least in the next game. Well, the fans to the winning team still hold strong confidence and hope that even more wins will be registered.

NFL Season 2015 Week 3: Kansas City Chiefs at Green Bay Packers on Monday, September 28, 8:30 PM, Lambeau Field

Five touchdown passes by Aaron Rodgers was enough to lead the Green Bay Packers to a victory over the Kansas City Chiefs. The Pack jumped out to a 2-touchdown lead in the first quarter and never looked back. The lead was 24-7 at the half on touchdown receptions by Randall Cobb, Ty Montgomery and James Jones. The Chiefs could only manage 79 total yards in the first half.

After the halftime intermission, Cobb caught two more touchdown passes on two of the Packers first 4 drives. By falling behind early, Kansas City was forced to pass the ball but the 7 sacks they gave up only helped to serve themselves up for the rout that happened. Green Bay’s defense loosened in the fourth quarter with the large lead and the Chiefs managed to move the ball on offense and make the score more respectable than they deserved.

The Packers dominated this game and the Chiefs could do nothing about Aaron Rodger’s precision passing attack. Alex Smith’s passing numbers looked respectable but it was due to the long touchdown drives in the fourth quarter after the outcome was no longer in doubt. In the 2005 NFL draft, the San Francisco 49ers needed a quarterback and decided to pick Smith over Rodgers with the third pick. Rodgers slipped to the Packers with the 24th pick. The disparity in the talent between the two was on wide display in this game. He who laughs last, laughs best, as the saying goes.

NFL Season 2015 Week 2: Kansas City Chiefs vs Denver Broncos on Thursday, September 17, 8:25 PM, Arrowhead Stadium

The Broncos capitalized off Jamal Charles’ second fumble of the game to win their seventh straight over the Chiefs. All three fumbles the Chiefs coughed up, resulted in the Broncos recovering the ball.

The Broncos’ defense took the ball away from Kansas City five times in this game. Two interceptions, one of which was due to Alex Smith’s arm getting bumped, and the three fumble recoveries. After the Broncos came back from a 14-0 deficit in the second quarter, the game was neck and neck. This fumble recovery was returned 21 yards to put them ahead for the first time in the game to stave off overtime.

Peyton Manning threw three touchdowns and an interception and 256 yards on 26 completions in the win. The interception Manning threw was returned for one of the Chiefs’ three touchdowns. Already, Peyton has thrown 2 interceptions and both have been returned for touchdowns. He now has 14 wins in 15 starts against Kansas City.

Alex Smith threw two interceptions, 191 yards on 16 completions in their loss. Both teams put up a total of 55 points after a scoreless first quarter. The Broncos and Chiefs go up against each other again this year in mid-November, this time in Denver.

NFL Season 2015 Week 1: Kansas City Chiefs at Houston Texans on Sunday, September 13, 1:00 PM, NRG Stadium

The Kansas City Chiefs opened the 2015-16 season with a 27-20 victory over the Houston Texans. The Chiefs jumped to a 27-9 lead, then held off a late 11 pt charge by the Texans during the fourth quarter to win the game. Chiefs quarterback Alex Smith ended the game with 243 yards and 3 touchdowns, the first two touchdown passes going to Travis Kelce. Houston’s quarterback, Brian Hoyer went 18-34, throwing for 234 yards, one interception, one touchdown before being replaced by Ryan Mallett with 6 minutes to go in the game. Houston Coach BIll O’Brien refused to confirm whether or not Hoyer would be the starter in next week’s game against the Carolina Panthers.

On the defensive side of the ball, linebacker Brian Cushing lead the Texans with 10 tackles, followed by J.J. Watt who had 9 tackles, six of them for losses. Most eyes were on Jadaveon Clowney, last years top overall pick, who was making his first appearance since being hurt last December. Clowney did not start and was used primarily in 3rd down situations. He ended the day with a total of 4 tackles. The Chiefs were led defensively by Allen Bailey who racked up 5 sacks and recovered a fumble.

Kansas City Chiefs – NFL Season 2014

Kansas City Chiefs fans have to be frustrated with the fact that the team missed the playoffs by one game, finishing at 9-7. Now the fans have to wait for next season to cheer for their team again, following Kansas City CHiefs live streams. The fact that the Chiefs lost at home to the hapless Tennessee Titans is a sign that the season truly could have gone better.

Bob Sutton’s defense wasn’t as good at stopping the run, but with the loss of Derrick Johnson, Eric Berry and others played a large role in the lack of success at defending the running game. The fact that no wide receiver scored a touchdown for the Chiefs may begin to spread doubts that the Chiefs passing game is in good shape. Brad Childress and other assistants should be able to make sure that a receiver like Dwayne Bowe gets a chance to catch a touchdown pass.

NFL Season 2014 Week 17: Kansas City Chiefs vs San Diego Chargers on Sunday, December 28, 1:00 PM, Arrowhead Stadium

The Chargers were no match to dominating Chiefs, going down 19-7 in a one sided affair. Chargers were hoping to beat the Kansas City Chiefs to stand a chance of playing in the post season playoffs. However, they didn’t play like real playoff contenders, allowing the Chiefs to run rings around them. In a dramatic weekend of shattered dreams, the Kansas City Chiefs were themselves locked out of playoffs by results from other games elsewhere, despite beating the Chargers resoundingly.

The fate of the Chiefs lay in three games: Their own game against the Chargers, The game between Cleveland and Baltimore and the game between Jacksonville and Houston Texans. The Chiefs were to beat the Chargers, which they did in style, and pray that the Texans lose to Jacksonville as the Baltimore Ravens lose to Cleveland. Unfortunately for the Chiefs, the Ravens fought their way to clinching the remaining AFC playoff spot. As for the San Diego Chargers, all they needed to do to get into the playoffs was to beat the Chiefs. They failed to rise to the occasion, losing hopelessly and locking themselves out of the playoffs.

NFL Season 2014 Week 16: Kansas City Chiefs at Pittsburgh Steelers on Sunday, December 21, 1:00 PM, Heinz Field

The Kansas City Chiefs and The Pittsburgh Steelers needed a victory. The Steelers came out on top and gave themselves a playoff spot.

Ben Roethlisberger played his usual game. He passed for 220 yards and one touchdown. LeBeon Bell scored one touchdown. The star running back carried the ball twenty time for sixty-three yards. The Steelers star receiver Antonio Brown became the all-time leading receiver in Steeler history by catching seven passes for seventy-two yards and one touchdown. The Steeler defense caused one turnover but he sacked the Kansas City quarterback six times.

Kansas City’s quarterback Alex Smith played a solid game. He threw for 311 yards and did not throw an interception. The Kansas City offense struggled because their biggest offensive threat, Jamaal Charles ran for twenty-nine yards. The running back did catch the ball five times for forty-eight yards, but he did not score any touchdowns. Smith spread his passes around to eight different receivers. Dwayne Bowe and De’Anthony Thomas caught six passes. The Kansas City defense did hold the Steeler offense under three hundred yards. The Steelers are playing the Cinncinnati Bengals for the AFC North division title. The Chiefs are finishing out their season against San Diego

NFL Season 2014 Week 15: Kansas City Chiefs vs Oakland Raiders on Sunday, December 14, 1:00 PM, Arrowhead Stadium

The Oakland Raiders lost their twelveth game of the season to Kansas City Chiefs in a one sided encounter at the Arrowhead Stadium in Kansas. The 13-31 result inflicted more injury to the already ailing Raiders who have been unable to pose any serious threat to opponents this season. Derek Carr and the entire Raiders offense were completely shut down, making them unable to penetrate the Chiefs’ defense. The Chiefs’, who are smarting from a three match losing streak, played their hearts out, pinning the Raiders down and escaping with the victory they badly needed to rebuild their confidence.

The Chiefs were in control throughout the match. They led 7-0 by the end of the first quarter and drew 3-3 in the second. However, it was in the third quarter that they pressed harder to seal the victory with a 21-3 score. It was in this same quarter that the Raiders showed some few flashes of brilliance, albeit too late. Had they used C J Wilson’s recovery well when the Chiefs’ Travis Kelce fumbled, they would made the affair very interesting indeed.

However, Janikowski was at hand to rescue the Chiefs, scoring a field goal, with Wilson getting hurt in the process. It was but a summation of the Raiders horrible season. They won the fourth quarter 7-0. However, their resurgence was of no consequence. It came a little too late. The Chiefs had already sealed the victory to revive their hopes for a playoff berth.

NFL Season 2014 Week 14: Kansas City Chiefs at Arizona Cardinals on Sunday, December 07, 4:05 PM, U of Phoenix Stadium

The now 10-3 Arizona Cardinals were lucky to eek out a 17-14 win over the Chiefs on in week 14, thanks in large part to a controversial call, which gave the Cardinals the ball after it was ruled that Kansas City Tight End, Travis Kelce, fumbled with 5 minutes remaining in the game.

This game went somewhat as expected as the Cardinals have an elite defense and a quickly deteriorating offense. With the loss of Carson Palmer earlier in the season, the team has turned to Drew Stanton, who has been adequate at best, while throwing to a hobbled Larry Fitzgerald, an ineffective Michael Floyd and rookie Jaron Brown. To add insult (and injury) to injury, Arizona’s feature back of the future, Andre Ellington, is gone for the season.

On the other side, Kansas City played its typical conservative game, counting on Alex Smith to manage the game and hope that Jamaal Charles could perform his usual magic and break at least one or two long plays. Charles did not disappoint, scoring on a 63 yard TD run and hauling in an 18 yard TD pass from Smith. Ultimately, thanks to some questionable calls, it was not enough.

NFL Season 2014 Week 13: Kansas City Chiefs vs Denver Broncos on Sunday, November 30, 8:30 PM, Arrowhead Stadium

Denver went to Kansas City to take control of the AFC western division. Kansas City came into the contest needing a win to stay in playoff contention. Denver took an early fourteen to zero lead, and maintained that lead for the rest of game. The key to this game was the two teams defenses. Kansas City was held to 151 total yards. The Kansas City offense also turned the ball over three times, and quarterback Alex Smith was sacked six times.

The Broncos’ offense was held to 179 yards passing. Peyton Manning threw for Denver’s only two touchdowns. The star offensive player for the Broncos was C.J. Anderson. Anderson ran for 168 yards, he also caught two passes for seventeen yards and one touchdown. Demaryius Thomas caught six passes for sixty-three yards and the other Denver touchdown.

Kansas Cities strength is its running game, but Denver held the Chiefs in check. The Chiefs leading running back Jamaal Charles was held to thirty-five yards rushing. The offensive threat was held to four receptions for twenty four yards and a touchdown. Alex Smith accounted for 153 yard passing and threw two touchdowns. The second touchdown pass that Smith threw was to Anthony Fasano.

Denver is playing at home against Buffalo. The Broncos are undefeated at home, and looking to continue their winning streak. Buffalo needs a victory to stay in the playoff hunt, as they are tied with five other teams for the final wild card spot.

NFL Season 2014 Week 12: Kansas City Chiefs at Oakland Raiders on Thursday, November 20, 8:25 PM, O.co Coliseum

Out of the games played this season, Kansas City has shown that they are ready to move on undeterred; this is evident in their latest performance when they visited the Oakland Raiders. The Kansas City proved that they are tired of the losing trend when they regained a better position after awarding the Oakland Raiders a fourth defeat in a row.

By such humiliation, the Oakland Raiders were able to build momentum and this will be of great use to help them keep going for the remaining part of the season. On the other hand, the Kansas City used this as a jerk to help them build a solid and all round performance. With good game averages and persistence push to hold on, the game is a solid base with which the Oakland can avoid a consecutive 4-12 finish.

With the two giants sharpening each other, they were able to stretch muscles to the maximum and bring out the best of each other. The average on pass and rush yards allowed grew greatly and the game is a clear indicator that the next victim who will face them will have quite a hard time. Furthermore, the morale of the team coaches is clear proof that this was not just a game, it meant more to them than the points, getting ready to complete the season with a victorious tone.

NFL Season 2014 Week 11: Kansas City Chiefs vs Seattle Seahawks on Sunday, November 16, 1:00 PM, Arrowhead Stadium

The Seattle Seahawks struggled on third and fourth down on offense during the game. The team simply could not get a lot of sustainable drives going, this is why they lost by a 24-20 score against the Kansas City Chiefs. Russell Wilson was able to hit some passes out in the flat, but they weren’t able to push the ball down the field in the fashion that they wanted to. The presence of Eric Berry and made a huge difference. The fact that Alex Smith only had to throw the ball sixteen times in the game may be a sign of the confidence that the Chiefs have in Jamal Charles and the running game.

The high ankle sprain that occurred to Max Unger definitely had an impact on the offensive game plan for the Seahawks. Marshawn Lynch was still able to get 159 yards, but unless you are able to convert those yards into points in the red zone, the Chiefs linebackers in particular have to consider the Lynch overall rushing number a victory. Josh Mauga was able to plug up a number of key running lanes that the Seawhawks wanted to explore. Phillip Gaines also did some solid tackling as a cornerback as he wrapped up a number of the wide outs.

NFL Season 2014 Week 10: Kansas City Chiefs at Buffalo Bills on Sunday, November 09, 1:00 PM, Ralph Wilson Stadium

The match-up between the Kansas City Chiefs and the Buffalo Bills resulted in a 17-13 Chiefs victory, consequentially improving their season record to 6-3 and putting them in a good position for the season endgame. Just like the Browns and Bengals games, this show-off was heavily influenced by one team clearly being off their game and causing several key mistakes. Early on in the game the Bills’ defence was unrelentingly, forcing the Chiefs to put from their own end zone, which was fielded by McKelvin. However after catching the ball and taking a couple steps he was hit head on by special team’s members Albert Wilson and Anthony Sherman, who caused the ball to be knocked loose.

The ball was subsequently recovered by Sherman and after a short serious of plays by the Chiefs resulted in a touchdown. The next key point of the match came in the beginning of the second half which set the mood for the rest of the game. Buffalo Bills’ Bryce Brown had possession of the ball just mere steps outside of his own end zone, when it was stripped off of him by Parker which caused the ball to bounce into the end zone, couldn’t be controlled by the tight end Scott Chandler and finally went out for a touch back. In this game it seemed like nothing was going right for the Bills’ offence, and the Chief’s defence played an excellent game, diminishing any hopes for a Bills’ comeback.

NFL Season 2014 Week 9: Kansas City Chiefs vs New York Jets on Sunday, November 02, 1:00 PM, Arrowhead Stadium

The NY Jets had numerous red zone opportunities in their game against the Kansas City Chiefs. Michael Vick and the Jets were not able to cash in on most of these opportunities however. The Jets did get an outstanding performance from wide receiver Percy Harvin with his eleven catches, but Chris Johnson was not able to break the plane of the end zone at key times, despite the fact that it is obvious that the man has not given up on the season. The 24-10 score showed that the Chiefs largely had control of the game, despite the fact that Alex Smith did not put up big numbers. Smith rarely puts up big numbers, but it is a lot of the medium routes and screens to people like Dwayne Bowe that remained effective in this game.

Jamal Charles only had 88 all purpose yards in the game, he dropped a couple of passes, but this is also a sign that the Chiefs are trying to use Nile Davis in the offense more. The Chiefs have proven to be an effective team on both sides of the ball. Houston is leading the league in sack. Rahim Abdullah was able to understand the Jets blocking scheme really well, finding ways to get pressure on the quarterback. Matt Simms came in for a series, and he was no more successful than Vick in most criteria.

NFL Season 2014 Week 8: Kansas City Chiefs vs St. Louis Rams on Sunday, October 26, 1:00 PM, Arrowhead Stadium

Kansas City Chiefs put on a show for their fans at home to remember when they hosted St. Louis Rams by hammering them 34-7. With 100-yard kickoff return from Knile Davis and Jamaal Charles’ touchdown runs, the Rams endured a miserable day that they would wish to quickly erase from their memories.

In the first quarter, Charles powered over the left side of the line for a touchdown and added a 36-yard score early on in the fourth after accelerating past the Rams’ defense while he had initially dodged a defender at the line of scrimmage.

Cairo Santos added a pair of field goals for Kansas City before halftime including a career-best of 53 yards. Davis had the final say in the string of 34 unanswered points with a short touchdown run in the final quarter.

Chiefs coach Andy Reid blamed his injury prone defensive backfield for the loss after the game. “You looked at the injuries they had today, they had three or four rookies starting for them on the defensive side,” he said. “That’s tough.”

It was a tough day for the Rams especially In the second half and their attention now shifts to their next game hoping to bounce back from this heavy loss. “We clearly got outplayed in the second half of this game in all three phases,” Fisher said. “It wasn’t a good effort and we’ve got our work cut out for us.”

NFL Season 2014 Week 7: Kansas City Chiefs at San Diego Chargers on Sunday, October 19, 4:05 PM, Qualcomm Stadium

Kansas City Chiefs recorded their third victory away at San Diego Chargers when they beat the Chargers 23-20 to place them at position three on the AFC West Conference. The San Diego Chargers on the other hand suffered their second defeat of the season after going unbeaten for five straight matches. The Chiefs had Alex Smith to thank after he completed three straight passes with 53 yards. Alex Smith also contributed a 29 yarder drive towards Dwayne Bowe. Smith gave the Chiefs a 20-14 lead with just 14.50 minutes left.

This was after he gave fullback Antony Sherman an 11 yard touchdown. The Chiefs caught up with the Chargers after Nick Novak kicked a 48 yard shot to tie the game with just less than 2 minutes left. The difference however came after the Chiefs recorded 10 points with the Chargers settling at just 6 points to shock the Chargers with a late goal drive. Smith also had a memorable night since he earned his first victory at the Mission Valley. Kansas City Chiefs had Jamal Charles to thank after he made 64 carries with a total 290 yards. He scored once and gained 95 yards which gave him 6,113 points and moved him to the top list of Kansas City Chiefs after he surpassed Priest Holmes previous record of 6,070 points.

NFL Season 2014 Week 5: Kansas City Chiefs at San Francisco 49ers on Sunday, October 05, 4:25 PM, Levi’s Stadium

The San Francisco 49ers won their second game in a row against the Kansas City Chiefs, who dominated the New England Patriots in their previous game to get back to 2-2, after a slow start to the season. The 49ers had a lot of success running the ball, they gained 171 yards on the ground, and were led by Frank Gore, who had 107 yards on 18 carries. Colin Kaepernick also had a good game, passing for 201 yards and a touchdown. The team did have problems in the red zone, and had to settle for 5 field goals from Phil Dawson.

Alex Smith played his first game against the team that drafted him, but didn’t have the homecoming he was hoping to have, the Chiefs running game which accounted for over 200 yards against the Patriots was effectively shut down by San Francisco’s defense, which limited them to 90 yards on 19 carries. The Chiefs also couldn’t get much going in their passing game, and gained only 175 yards through the air, with a last minute interception that sealed the game for San Francisco. The Chiefs willtry to get back on track this week when they the San Diego Chargers, while the 49ers will be going for their third straight win against the St. Louis Rams on Monday night.

NFL Season 2014 Week 4: Kansas City Chiefs vs New England Patriots on Monday, September 29, 8:30 PM, Arrowhead Stadium

On September 29, the Kansas Chiefs made a statement against the New England Patriots, beating them 41-14. Jamaal Charles made his return and he returned with vengeance, scoring three touchdowns. As for Tom Brady, he played good, but many are saying that this has been one of Brady’s worse losses, as well as one of Bill Belichick’s worse.

Charles shined throughout the game, and he ended up running for a whopping 92 yards. Alex Smith threw two short TD passes to Charles. The only other time the Patriots have lost in such a fashion was back in 2005, when they played San Diego, who beat them 41-17.

Back to Monday’s game, as previously mentioned, Brady gave a good effort and he played alright, but he ended up being strip-sacked, and this allowed Tamba Hali to get a field goal. Brady must have realized that he and the other players didn’t play as well as they would have liked, because he said that it was a bad performance not only on his part but for everyone.

NFL Season 2014 Week 3: Kansas City Chiefs at Miami Dolphins on Sunday, September 21, 4:25 PM, Sun Life Stadium

The game between Kansas City and Miami started off very close and it was scoreless after the first quarter. Kansas City was still looking for its first win of the season, while Miami was 1-1 coming into the game. The Chiefs started fast in the second quarter and went on a 62 yard touchdown drive to take the lead. Miami would add a field goal to make it 7-3. Kansas City then went on a 76 yard drive to go up 14-3 at halftime. Miami would strike first in the second half to make it a 14-10 ballgame.

That did not slow down Kansas City though, as they would go on another long drive to take a 21-10 lead in the third quarter. Miami would make it interesting late in the quarter by scoring a field goal and getting a safety to cut it to 21-15 after three quarters. Then came the fourth quarter and the Chiefs would blow the game open with two more touchdowns to make 34-15. That proved to be the final score as Kansas City got a huge road win in Miami. Kansas City got their first win of the season, while Miami fell to 1-2.

NFL Season 2014 Week 1: Kansas City Chiefs vs Tennessee Titans on Sunday, September 07, 1:00 PM, Arrowhead Stadium

In such an exciting NFL debut, September 7th it is, Tennessee Titans took on Kansas Chiefs away from home, a game that witnessed the home team lose by a relatively high margin, 26 to 10. The game kicked off at 1:00 PM and was remarkably action-packed since the start, but it was Jake Locker that stole the spotlight on this occasion impressively, and deservedly being the top passer of the contest. Rushing for 266 yards and two touchdowns, he was clearly the man of the match.

It was Kansas City that broke the deadlock, but it was Tennessee’s prowess that did the job when it mattered. Chiefs were forced to play without Dwayne Bowe, while Donald Stephenson was serving quarter of his four-day suspension due to him violating the league’s policy on substances relevant to performance-enhancement. Both the fans and the away team coach showed signs of ecstasy as a reward for their omnipresent optimist hopes during the game. “That was a rough game”, stated Andy Reid, the Kansas City Chiefs’ coach. Bad news for Chiefs, is that Jeff Allen picked up a bicep injury. On the other hand, Titans’ Zach Brown was left with a shoulder injury, the exciting linebacker prospect joined Titans during 2012’s NFL Draft.

Tempered expectations for Kansas City Chiefs Season 2013

Coming into the 2013 regular season, the Kansas City Chiefs sported a new general manager and head coach. The team had just lost 14 games in 2012, so expectations were tempered before the season started. Despite such results a season prior, the 2013 Chiefs surprised everyone by compiling a 11-5 record and making the playoffs. Alex Smith, a quarterback acquired through free agency, led the team to second place in the AFC West.

Smith and Co. Started the Season Strong; Never Looked Back

Kansas City faced the Jacksonville Jaguars on September 8 to open the season. The team bagged its first win with a blowout, 28-2. In Weeks Two and Three, game scores were far closer, but another two victories were clinched. A fairly soft schedule helped the Chiefs grab key victories en route to an nine game winning streak. More formidable opponents, including the San Diego Chargers and Denver Broncos, proved too much to handle, though.

Reaching the Playoffs With a Wild Card Berth

Surprisingly enough, Kansas City found itself with a Wild Card playoff game against the Indianapolis Colts. Indianapolis handed the team a lopsided 7-23 loss during Week 16. During the playoff game, the Chiefs led 38-10 going into the second half but wound up losing 45-44. Both the offense and defense melted down, allowing the Colts to take advantage and advance deeper into the playoffs. Even though they lost the game, the Chiefs surpassed expectations from the beginning of the season.
How did Kansas City turn things around in 2013?
During the offseason, the front office carried out a few key trades and signings. Alex Smith was traded from San Francisco and given the starting quarterback role. Incremental upgrades were made across the board to the offensive and defensive line. Plus, a number of players stepped up and propelled the team to success. Pro Bowl selections for Smith, running back Jamaal Charles, cornerback Brandon Flowers, and seven others are evidence for that development.

A Playoff Losing Streak Continued; A Positive Season Nonetheless

By losing to the Colts in the Wild Card game, Kansas City extended a dubious losing streak for playoff games. Dating back to 1993, the Chiefs have lost eight straight playoff games, an NFL record. Still, the Chiefs rebounded from a 2-14 season in 2012 to a strong 11-5 record in 2013. New general manager John Dorsey and head coach Andy Reid led the team to a strong rebound. Results for the Chief’s 2013 performance could have been far worse, but going from a punching bag to a playoff contender is always a positive development.
