NFL 2017 Week 17: Washington Redskins at New York Giants on Sunday, December 31, 1:00 PM, MetLife Stadium
The Washington Redskins took to the field against the NY Giants. However, the Redskins were unable to perform as expected in what could be their last contest of the season. Ultimately, the team lost to the Giants with a final of 7-9. The Redskins won the toss and deferred to the 2nd half – starting the game in defense. New York, on the other hand, took to the ground running to kick their arch-nemesis right in the gut. In particular, Orleans Darkwa took advantage of missed tackles and slow adjusting players to gash the Redskins’ defense with a 75-yard touchdown run. D. Swearinger, on the other hand, broke free and tried to run the blocked kickback in search of extra points for his team. The offensive effort was a massive failure – particular for Cousins and Samaje Perine (who sustained an injury to the right ankle and had to be carried off the field).
Cousins also missed the linebacker after he threw a poor pass. Ty Nsekhe was also injured on the drive and had to limp off the field – further adding to the injury woes suffered by the Redskins. During the first half, Ryan Kerrigan scored a pair of sacks while the Redskins made a series of irreparable errors – including clipping calls against Tyler Catalina – which ensured that the score wrapped up at 15 to 10. The second half, on the other hand, bordered on the torturous as both teams spent most of the match going back and forth, kicking punts, making errors, and adding a total of 3 points to the final scoreboard.
NFL 2017 Week 16: Washington Redskins vs Denver Broncos on Sunday, December 24, 1:00 PM, FedEx Field
The Denver broncos visited Washington Redskins in what turned to be a very entertaining match. Although the Broncos put up a good fight in the offense, they faced a tough challenge from the opponents. With one of the best quarterback any team can wish for, the Redskins had an advantage that was enough to secure them a win. This is not to say that other players weren’t good, it just shows that with a strong lead, any team can face any challenge and put up a good fight to emerge winners. The Redskins’ quarterback managed 299 yards with three touchdowns and one interception but it was his ability to maneuver past the Bronco’s defense that was impressive the most.
The game that ended 27-11 in favor of the Redskins put Broncos put them up a couple of positions higher though it wasn’t one of their best performances. They continue to struggle and their fans hope to see an improvement in their next match against the Kansas City Chiefs. Both the offensive and defensive tried to do their best but it wasn’t good enough with the fans feeling that some of the players didn’t do a good job. The Broncos quarterback had much pressure and though he tried, he only managed 54 yards and an interception.
NFL 2017 Week 15: Washington Redskins vs Arizona Cardinals on Sunday, December 17, 1:00 PM, FedEx Field
The Cardinals lost to the Redskins 20-15, and they lost because they were just not in a position where they could score enough when it counted. They are getting much older, and they are learning that they need to have a plan for the future that will take them out of the Carson Palmer era. David Johnson is hurt, and their defense could not stop Washington when they needed to.
Kirk Cousins made a very good case that he could be paid a lot of money at the end of the season, and there are a few teams that would like to have him. Cousins is auditioning every week, and he looks great when he plays like this. He was able to get one over on the Cardinals, and they were just not good enough to respond. The Redskins could be very good if they just kept their team together. The Cardinals need to start over and will use losses like this to make changes to their organization.
NFL 2017 Week 14: Washington Redskins at Los Angeles Chargers on Sunday, December 10, 4:05 PM, StubHub Center
The Washington Redskins at Los Angeles Chargers was an amazing game. The Chargers won the match with a 30-13 score against the Redskins. The Chargers trounced their opponents just to move to a position of 7-6, and this is awesome for this team from Washington. Mr. Rivers completed a 34-yard pass to the famous Williams who was truly fast to be covered by any linebackers from the Redskins. Mr. Gordon just rushed to get a short game early in the game. Tyrell moved the sticks early in the game too. Ekeler did an amazing job right away, too. Mr. Perine got the important first carry for the team from Washington.
Mr. Coons gave the Chargers the first important points on the important opening drive his amazing football season. Mr. Gordon opened the drive with a short run. Henry did an amazing chain-moving reception in the early part of the game. Mr. Emanuel made a great interception when Williams broke up a pass from Cousins. In the second quarter, Perine did a great job by moving forward with an important 4-yard gain for the Skins. Jenkins had an outstanding coverage on Cousins when the latter tested a defense from his opponents. Rose missed the point after one attempt early in the game.
NFL 2017 Week 13: Washington Redskins at Dallas Cowboys on Thursday, November 30, 8:25 PM, AT&T Stadium
For straight three weeks, the Cowboys have not been up to the top. However, last week the turned things around by steamrolling the Redskins. This is the second time in this season. Alfred Morris did wonders; most of the steamrolling were done by him. He was the former Redskins star, and he got revenge on his old team by ensuring the game Dallas Cowboys’ great victory. He practically rushed for 127 yards and a touchdown in the Dallas Cowboys’ 38—14 win.
In this beautiful game where Dak Prescott went up 11 and 12 and was able to throw for 102 yards, Alfred seems to relish the role of carrying the team to success. Even as Morris got off to a slow start with only 38 yards win in the first half of the game. The Cowboys never gave up on their plan to run the ball down Washington’s throat which gave Morris the chance to decimate the opponents in the second half. Coming to statistics Morris averaged 5.9 yards-per-carry in the second half of the game, thus he rushed for 89 to 90 yards.
Also, the Cowboy’s offense had struggled due to the absence of Ezekiel Elliot, who was suspended, its Morris who has filled capably during the absence of Elliot ensuring that his team game the perfect blow to the Redskins, this being the second time for this season. The game was very engaging without any moment of dullness, and both teams gave their best.
NFL 2017 Week 12: Washington Redskins vs New York Giants on Thursday, November 23, 8:30 PM, FedEx Field
The New York Giants were treated to a special treat on thanksgiving been beaten 20 to 10 by hosts Washington Redskins. The thanksgiving contest saw the two NFC East rivals go toe to toe. The visiting Giants were being led by Quarterback Elli Manning. The Redskins were in great form all round but must have been all thankful for their CornerBack Kendall Fuller for his interceptions. This game came as a crush for the Giants as they were coming from a win over the Chiefs. It was a reminder that the Giants lacked momentum.
The Redskins on the other hand were coming from a loss in New Orleans. Both teams were lacking key players and with a short time for preparations both teams were struggling. Nevertheless, The Redskins rose to the occasion; they demonstrated a real winning Character. Highlights of the game included: Giants tight end Evans Engram dropped the ball on a third down pass hitting his hands midway through the third quarter. His drops continue to be a concern for the Giants. Giants Landon Collins’ performance continued to impress as the defensive player caused all sorts of problems for the Redskins. The first half was short of highlights and with the Giants having only one possession end the Redskins were clear to take it home.
NFL 2017 Week 11: Washington Redskins at New Orleans Saints on Sunday, November 19, 1:00 PM, Mercedes-Benz Superdome
Alvin Kamara took a position amidst the fans and moved along with the adulation that made the decision to stay with him. The eighteen-yard touchdown reception of Alvin Kamara remains an air presumption. To get rid of the 15-point deficit, the New Orleans needs two points to make the cancellation. With 5:58 in regulation, the Redskins were able to score a goal, making the game to take another shape. This also helped to understand the confidence of the Saints to a perfect level for not losing any game over two months.
To take a pitch into the final areas for a required conversion, Alvin was able to climb back down in time. When Wil Lutz’s twenty-eight-yard field goal capped a 34-31 victory in overtime, the Saints were able to win their 8th consecutive match. Drew Brees had two touchdowns and threw for around three hundred and eighty-five yards. This makes the eleven out of 11 throws of Drew for one hundred and sixty-four yards became successful. Josh Hill got a TD from Drew from three yards with 2:53 remaining in the match. Kamara got the last TD with 1:05 minutes remaining for the match to come to an end. Without much hesitation, the clear winner of the match went to the Saints.
NFL 2017 Week 10: Washington Redskins vs Minnesota Vikings on Sunday, November 12, 1:00 PM, FedEx Field
The Minnesota Vikings vs. Washington Reskins is a game that was much awaited by the NFL fans. This is a game that many had obviously predicted that the Vikings would win. This was a game that ended at 30-38 in favor of the Minnesota Vikings. The win was very key in the entourage of the Vikings who have been fairing very well of late. The win against the Reskins has put the Vikings in a better position of making it to the NFC North Title. The Reskins came to this game looking very charged but the offensive nature of their opponents could not allow them to win.
The manager of Washington Reskins had put up a very strong defense line-similar to that which had been put against the much offensive Seattle Seahawks. It was a painful day for the Vikings as it was not their nature to just concede 30 points in an NFL game. On the other hand, the Vikings were able to maintain very accurate passing techniques and their offensive lines ensured that the maximum points were gained as well as the defense ensuring that the win was maintained.
NFL 2017 Week 9: Washington Redskins at Seattle Seahawks on Sunday, November 05, 4:05 PM, CenturyLink Field
Any rally that Russell Wilson anticipated offering was toppled by the comeback of Kirk Cousins. This helped to bring some energy on the side of the Washington that was moving in a spiral world of problems. In thirty-five seconds, Kirk was able to advance Washington for seventy yards. In one yard touchdown, Rob Kelley was able to cap the run with only less than a minute to end the game. As the game progress, the Washington worked hard late to win against the Seattle Seahawks by 17-14. With 1:34 minutes remaining, Seattle took the lead with a 14-10.
This occurred when Russell Wilson was able to locate Doug for a thirty-yard touchdown pass. The Seahawks struggle with the offense for the day without getting more positive results. The answer was right in the game plan of Kirk after taking over at the thirty-yard line. On consecutive throws, Kirk was able to strike Josh Doctson for thirty-eight and Brian Quick for thirty-one yards to move toward the Seattle with only 1:02 minutes remaining. Down the sideline, Doctson was able to defeat rookie Griffin and orchestrated an amazing diving catch. On the next play, Kelley was able to make his way in for another touchdown.
NFL 2017 Week 8: Washington Redskins vs Dallas Cowboys on Sunday, October 29, 4:25 PM, FedEx Field
The NFL has continued to show a stiff competition as depicted last NFL game-day. The Washington Redskins were at home to the Dallas Cowboys who thrashed the home team a clear 33-19. Four minutes to the end of the first half, Nick rose attempted a 36-yard field goal but failed. The scores were 13-6 at the moment. After Tyrone Crawford,s defensive tackle, Ezekiel Elliott ploughed into the end area and earned the Cowboys an extra point to lead at 14-13. The Dallas Cowboys didn’t trail again with their 26-13 lead after a blocked field goal. Zach Brown showed indiscipline by smashing Keith Smith in the face in the fourth quarter. The Redskins, however, attacked vigorously notably through an interception from Jaylen Smith but was ruled incomplete upon replay review thus slimming a comeback from the Redskins.
An interference penalty on a pass meant for Josh Doctson gave the Washington Redskins a goal from a 1-yard line. Cousins passed to Doctson for a touchdown making it 26-19 with 4:39 remaining. Rose didn’t convert the extra point though. The home team has been overwhelmed with injuries this season which could be the cause of the poor performance. Washington Redskins fell 0-3 against NFC East this year thus making a five-game streak loss to the Cowboys at home since 2012 where they beat the Cowboys 28-18 to clinch the NFC East title on a regular season. The Washington Redskins will face the Seahawks next. The Cowboys trail the Eagles in their NFC East group with 571 points. The Redskins are third with 429 points above the Giants who have 143 points only.
NFL 2017 Week 7: Washington Redskins at Philadelphia Eagles on Monday, October 23, 8:30 PM, Lincoln Financial Field
The Eagles are still winning matches while losing key players. Well, it is thanks to number eleven. Carson Wentz ran for a career-best sixty-three yards and tossed 4 touchdown passes. This helped the Eagles live above losing 9-time Pro Bowl Jason Peters with a victory of 34-24 over the Redskins on Monday. Jordan Hicks the linebacker also had a slight ankle injury in the game. Hicks left the stadium on crutches and Peter was rushed off the field. After the game, Coach Pederson did not have any updates on the status of the match. As long as Wentz is under center, the team will be fine. In front of a national audience, the 2nd-year quarter made one amazing move after another. Wentz has led the National Football League best Eagles to 5 straight victories. Wentz is also an early front-runner for MVP.
Kirk Cousins for three hundred and three threw 3 TDs for the Redskins at 3-3. In the premier 4 drives, the Eagles went 3-and-out three times and had only fifty-seven overall yards prior to Wentz strike Mack Hollins. This was in stride with the right sixty-four-yard TD pass to tie the game at ten. This action made the offense to be gingered and functioning. For forty-six yards, Wentz was able to link to Zach Ertz to the upcoming actions. Wents was able to find Zach again for a four-yard pass to make the game 17-10.
NFL 2017 Week 6: Washington Redskins vs San Francisco 49ers on Sunday, October 15, 1:00 PM, FedEx Field
The San Fransisco 49ers woes continued after they were beaten by the Washington Redskins in a 24-26 thriller. San Fransisco has lost its fifth time in a row as by three points or fewer as Kirk Cousins blazes Washington Redskins victory. Cousins made a few touch downs and passes and the defense had its way with the San Fransisco’s, limiting them to just 32 yards in the first quarter-and-a-half-of -play. Nothing comes easy for sure and the Redskins had to look for victory in every sort of way as the 49ers only came up to be a shot away from their quest of victory.
In the second and third quarters the Washington’s offense stumbled, turning the ball over more than once.San Fransisco scored another 10 clear points to tie the game on another Hyde 1-run with almost 4 seconds left in the quarter. But Washington regrouped early in the fourth quarter, going a 72-yard drive that ended up in 21-yard field goal. The game was a hard one and the 49ers showed a worth-it fight before loosing closely to their opponents who barely managed to hold on to the close margin win.
NFL 2017 Week 4: Washington Redskins at Kansas City Chiefs on Monday, October 02, 8:30 PM, Arrowhead Stadium
The Washington Redskins and the Kansas City Chiefs got together in a highly anticipated match-up. Both the Redskins and the Chiefs have been playing great football this season with the latter entering the game undefeated. The Redskins jumped out to an early lead, as quarterback Kirk Cousins connected on a 44 yard touchdown pass. This was soon followed by a 19 Dustin Hopkins field goal which gave the Redskins a 10 nothing lead. The Chiefs responded with a 17 touch pass from Alex Smith to go into halftime down 10-7.
The back and forth between the two teams continued in the third quarter. Alex Smith scored on a one yard run for the Chiefs. This was followed by a Kirk Cousins 3 yard touchdown pass. The Chiefs ended the third quarter scoring with a field goal sending the game into the fourth quarter tied at 17-17. In the fourth quarter, the two teams traded field goals. The Chiefs struck first with a 32 yard field goal. The Redskins responded with a 40 yard field goal to tie the game with 47 seconds left. The Chiefs then marched down the field and kicked the go ahead field goal with 4 seconds left in the game. The Redskins fumbled on their next possession which the Chiefs returned for a touchdown and the 29-20 victory. The loss drops the Redskins to 2-2 for the season. The victory leaves the Chiefs as the only unbeaten team left in the league this season as they sit atop the AFC west 4-0.
NFL 2017 Week 3: Washington Redskins vs Oakland Raiders on Sunday, September 24, 8:30 PM, FedEx Field
The Washington Redskins owned their home turf against the Oakland Raiders, dominating a game they had been expected to lose. The Redskins chalked up three touchdowns and over 470 yards: 188 yards from Chris Thompson (including a 22-yard touchdown reception) and 365 yards thrown by Kirk Cousins. This was over three times the Raiders’ weak 128 yards, thanks to the Redskins’ defense keeping the Raiders down.
The Raiders usually perform with a strong offense, but they were kept in check all game by the seemingly tireless Redskins’ defense. The Redskins sacked Raiders’ quarterback Derek Carr four times, and Redskins rookie safety Montae Nicholson even scored his first professional interception off a pass Derek Carr threw for Amari Cooper. It was Carr’s lowest performance in weeks; this is the first time he threw two interceptions in a single game since December 2015.
At the top of the third quarter, the Raiders were still scoreless when Kirk Cousins threw a monster 52-yard pass to Josh Doctson, for the Redskins’ third touchdown. Finally, the Raiders broke their dry spell with a touchdown pass to Jared Cook. But in the fourth quarter, the Redskins landed another field goal and, crucially, ran five minutes off the clock, crushing any hope of a Raiders’ comeback. The final score was Washington 27, Oakland 10.

He took a toss, ran in from 7 yards and finally getting the ball right inside the pylon. He also scored on the runs of 61 and 7 yards.
The match did not end without some few injuries. Rob Kelley of the Washington Redskin got a rib injury in the second quarter of the match and he never played the rest of the match. Gerald Everett of the Los Angeles Rams also injured his thigh. The game ended at 27-20, with the Washington emerging as the winners.
NFL 2017 Week 1: Washington Redskins vs Philadelphia Eagles on Sunday, September 10, 1:00 PM, FedEx Field
Philadelphia Eagles and Washington Redskins engaged in a cut throat competition in the same week 1 On Sunday too. It was at 8.00 PM at FedExField, Maryland. The Eagles claimed an opener with a 30-17 fantastic win. The game was eye-catching, and it showed that the preseason setbacks the Redskins had were entirely instrumental. They have now opened five seasons with losses in a row. Kirk Cousins was the man to watch as he finished the game with 23 straight completions with 40 attempts mostly at 240 yards. In additions, he also made great interceptions which acted as defensive strategies.
Redskins amassed 64 yards seeing 16 carries. Terrelle helped the receivers with some six catches seeing 66 yards that had 11 targets. Unfortunately, her several drops looked costly. There was a controversial scene when Brandon Graham aggressively stripped the from the innocent Kirk. The officials reviewed the act, and the ruling upheld the touchdown. The closer was a two point excellent conversion from Wents to Jeffery, and it pushed the score to 30-17.
NFL Preseason 2017 Week 4: Washington Redskins at Tampa Bay Buccaneers on Thursday, August 31, 7:30 PM, Raymond James Stadium

The Redskins under/over report remain 12-4-0 and ATS fixed at 10-6-0. As a unit last year, the Tampa Bay ran for one thousand six hundred and ninety-six yards, which ranked twenty-first in the NFL.
The Tampa Bay ran three hundred and seventy-nine times, which average 4.5 yards for a push in a unit. In points scored with three hundred and ninety-six, the Redskins ranked 12th in the NFL. The Redskins ran for one thousand and nine plays in the previous year for six thousand four hundred and fifty-four yards and ranked third. The Redskins also averaged around 6.4 yards on a daily basis and ranked second in the NFL. The team has been able to accumulate an overall value of 345 Ist downs previous session, making them to rank 8th in the offensive.
NFL Preseason 2017 Week 3: Washington Redskins vs Cincinnati Bengals on Sunday, August 27, 4:30 PM, FedEx Field
In the Bengals versus Redskins game, the Cincinnati showed immense promise at the game’s beginning. The offense headed by Andy Dalton and the initial team was strong. At this point, it was clear that the Redskins would be left with the same sense of dejection they felt in their first two preseason games. However, the Cincinnati’s lucky streak came to an end after the first quarter, when the backups were brought into the game. On the other side of the ball, the Redskin’s defense appeared to perform better than their offense, which looked a little out of sorts.
They managed to tackle the Cincinnati rookie Joe Mixon, who gave up the ball. Despite this, it was not until Dustin Hopkins came out onto the field that the Redskins managed to claim their first points. In the second quarter, the game took a sharp turn for the better. The rookies continued to push for additional points, with Colt McCoy scoring a 9-yard touchdown. Besides Passer McCoy contribution, the Redskins also took advantage of the Cincinnati’s failed punt. This made it possible for the Washington to score during the first few minutes of the fourth quarter. This gave them a lead, which they maintained till the very end of the game, granting them a 23-17 win against the Cincinnati’s Bengals.
NFL Preseason 2017 Week 2: Washington Redskins vs Green Bay Packers on Saturday, August 19, 7:30 PM, FedEx Field
The Green Bay Packers defeated the Washington Redskins by a score of 21-17 in Washington DC in the second preseason game for both teams. In the first quarter, Washington struck first, with a Dustin Hopkins field goal. Green Bay had the first touchdown, as quarterback Aaron Rodgers hit tight end Martellus Bennett for a 3 yard touchdown. It was a short day for Rodgers, as Green Bay went to their backup quarterback Brett Hundley in the second quarter, and Hundley threw a touchdown pass to rookie running back Aaron Hill to put Green Bay up 14-3. Washington quarterback Kirk Cousins answered back with a touchdown pass to wideout Jamison Crowder at the end of the half to cut the deficit to 3.
In the third quarter, Washington took the lead after backup quarterback Colt McCoy found tight end Niles Paul on a 16 yard touchdown strike, while Green Bay was unable to generate any scoring threat. However, Green Bay would regain the lead in the 4th quarter, as rookie running back Taysom Hill capped an 82 yard drive by bursting through for a 23 yard touchdown run to give Green Bay the lead 21-17. That score would hold up, giving Green Bay the victory.
NFL Preseason 2017 Week 1: Washington Redskins at Baltimore Ravens on Thursday, August 10, 7:30 PM, M&T Bank Stadium
There is no other action that people had been looking forward more than the action between these two giants. We all understand the lots of changes that the Ravens had to undergo prior the great battle which we might even safely term them whole as injuries; they lost Kenneth Dixon, Dennis Pitta, Crockett Gilmore, and Tavon Young. One other team player, Joe Flacco was suffering a back injury.
The magic here came from Jamison Crowder’s 85-yard punt return that made the Washington Redskins beat Baltimore 16-10 and this was the team’s third win. Baltimore’s Breshad Perriman was the man that made the game’s decision at last when he made a 23-yard touchdown catch that made the team to lead. It was also one catchy game full of twists and we wish luck to each team ahead.
Washington Redskins NFL season 2016 recap
The Redskins had some highs and lows last season. But an unforgettable turning point was seen on national TV when in the 7th week when the Washington Redskins tackled the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, it seemed as if they were a goner’being crushed at a score of 24-7. However, Kirk Cousins’ miracle offense strategies rallied 24 points in the next half, with Jordan Reed finishing a touchdown to snag a 31-30 advantage with only 28 seconds remaining on the clock. By doing so, Washington ended their season record with 6-3, taking home the win at the East Division of the NFC.
That win did not get them their best play of the season though. It was in the 14th week, when the Redskins had a crunch time play in their match with the Philadelphia Eagles. They almost lost being at 20-16 with only 30 seconds left–while on the four yard section’and Kirk Cousins passed to Pierre Garcon running a short route which made him take a huge slam, but earned the Redskins the win.
Because of their victory over the Buccaneers, the Redskins was able to keep their NFC East Division title. 2016 also gave them the opportunity to compete in London where they scored a tie against the Cincinnati Bengals at 27-27.
NFL 2016 Week 17: Washington Redskins vs New York Giants on Sunday, January 01, 1:00 PM, FedEx Field
1st January 2017, Americans were treated to a football game between the two old bitter rivals, the New York Giants and the Washington Redskins. Unfortunately, the game did not up to the billing since the Washington Redskins’ player were very poor on that day. Everyone expected the Washington Redskins to rise to the occasion and win the game since they were playing against a team that already sealed its place at the NFC playoffs and they were also playing at home in their famous stadium, the FedEx field.
The Washington Redskins were poor from the start since they fell 10-0 down to the Giants in the first two quarters of the match. In fact, in the first half they only totaled a meagre 83 yards of offence. Anyway, that is understandable due to the quality defense of the New York Giants. However, in the third and fourth quarter, the Redskin managed to restore parity and 10-10, which was commendable of their fighting. Unfortunately, they conceded two late scores in the last quarter that made them lose 19-10 to the Giants, which indicated a lapse in concentration as grew weary.
The loss of Washington Redskins to Giants killed their hopes of qualifying for NFL play offs and left them with a long offseason to ponder about the future of the club, such as offering Cousins a new deal or let him go.
NFL 2016 Week 16: Washington Redskins at Chicago Bears on Saturday, December 24, 1:00 PM, Soldier Field
The playoff hopes of the Washington Redskins were boosted as they won 41-21 against their host the Chicago Bears. The Bears (3-12) have been struggling this season and it did not come as a surprise that they were trampled on by the Redskins. The win was enabled by the hard work of Kirk Cousins who ran for two touchdowns and threw one. He threw a 17-yarrd touchdown in the first quarter and scored a 9-yard run in the second quarter. DeSean Jackson and managed 114 yards receiving but he had to leave the field after he got hit on the jaw in the third quarter.
On the Bears side, Barkley made history with the second-highest total interceptions with five in the game. Jordan Howard ran 119 yards whereas Cameron Meredith added 135 yards receiving and Alshon had 92. They however just could not hold up against the Redskins who took an early lead 14-0 in the first quarter. This was quite commendable with a history of having only three points in total from the past four games. The Washington team is now eighth in the NFC following the Green Bay.
NFL 2016 Week 15: Washington Redskins vs Carolina Panthers on Monday, December 19, 8:30 PM, FedEx Field
The Washington Redskins also took on the Carolina Panthers at the FedEx Field in Maryland. A disastrous 26-15 defeat for the Redskins meant that suddenly, they were in need of help if in order to return to the playoffs. With their fate no longer in their own hands, the Redskins now know they have to dig deep, find victory in their final game, and hope that both the Green Bay Packers and Tampa Bay Buccaneers slip up.
In particular, two turnovers and a running game termed atrocious’ by their coach were key to causing the Redskins (now 7-6-1) control of their playoffs. Which was of course a very important move for them.
Jonathan Stewart had an absolute field day, tearing through the Redskin defense with a stunning performance at sub-optimal health. And all in all, the Panther’s defense looked rock solid on the night, even if at the cost of some offensive action. On the other end, an inadequate defense put a lot of pressure on Redskins quarterback Kirk Cousins. As someone with a reputation for turning up at key movements, the passer had risen to the occasion throughout the season. However, he experienced one of his worst games at the FedEx Field, going 32 of 47 for 315 yards.
NFL 2016 Week 14: Washington Redskins at Philadelphia Eagles on Sunday, December 11, 1:00 PM, Lincoln Financial Field
The heated rivalry between the Washington Redksins and the Philadelphia Eagles just recently came back in last week’s match, but even with some injured players in their back, the Redskins managed to win against their long-time rival the Eagles in a game that was intense as their desire to win!
The Eagles started strong with 3 points on their belt during the 1st quarter, on the last minute Hopkins attempted a field goal to save his team, but sadly, it hit on the post instead as the ball was shot way too high off the mark.
In the second quarter, Kelly did a wonderful job at running, since he outlasted over several Eagles, and by the second down, he scored a Touch-Down worth enough to put the game tied 6 vs 6.
A last touchdown for the Eagles changed the outcome, and by the third quarter things have started to heat up! A perfect pass just came at the right time for Jackson, as he scored a touchdown for the Redskins, proving his talent once again.
Some downs later, Pierre Garçon scored a touchdown that came out of nowhere, scoring even more for the Washington renowned team of the NFL.
Last quarter, Philadephia has reacted and now they are even against their rival, drama ensues when Thompson scores a touchdown near the end of the game, and despite all their desperate intents of getting the ball back, the last seconds came in and the winner of the game has been decided, the Redskins won!
Both teams were at their best, the defense was strong and the line-up was skilled, in the end it was a battle of wits and intelligence, and that’s what the Washington Redskins got to win this game.
NFL 2016 Week 13: Washington Redskins at Arizona Cardinals on Sunday, December 04, 4:25 PM, University of Phoenix Stadium
In an NFC matchup, the Arizona Cardinals were set to meet Washington Redskins in a match of ages. This is because the game was featuring two teams who were willing and looking forward to making real noise this season in the conference. The cards were looking to ensuring they built something special in the west. The Redskins on the other hand as they are known, they wanted to go out and acquire big teams with big name players so to improve their roster. While in the game, the Cardinals were suited to ensure they slowed down Washington’s attack.
The Cardinals were ranked second in the NFL with tight ends and minimal passing yards. Regardless, this did not assist when it came to playing with Washington who was the NFL top-ranked offense as they lost by a 38-19 score. The Cardinals are well known for their undisciplined play as they receive much penalty which later frustrates the coach and the final score. The Washington’s were able to put point against the Cardinals and the match involved two quarterbacks who were in the opposite direction. Kirk Cousin who was a player of Washington was one of the people the cardinal focused on to ensure he did not make any throws or escape the pocket or pick any yardage on his own. They had to play a tighter game against the Redskins deep threats.
NFL 2016 Week 12: Washington Redskins at Dallas Cowboys on Thursday, November 24, 4:30 PM, AT&T Stadium
The Dallas Cowboys are the biggest surprise of the league so far because they made the league’s best record and the club-record winning streak. They haven’t lost since the season opener on September 11th. Washington Redskins are the defending NFC East Champion with a 6-3-1 score.
The Cowboys won 31:26 extending their record breaking winning-streak. Dak Prescott accounted for two touchdowns and Ezekiel Elliot also had two. Prescott tied a 50-year-old club record for quarterbacks with his fifth rushing touchdown. The Washington Redskins’ Kirk Cousins had 449 yards passing and three touchdowns, but Prescott also shined.
The Dallas Cowboys Coach Jason Garrett was quite happy with Prescott’s play saying that: “Over and over again, at crucial moments, he came up with a big play, whether it was a third down, down in the red zone, again and again and again he just played winning football for us.”
Ezekiel Elliot, a 21-year old had 97 yards passing. Reed had 10 catches for 95 yards despite his injury to his left shoulder. Cousins finished 8 yards shy of his career high, and Prescott was 17 of 24 for 195 yards, with eight carries for 39 yards and a career-long 18-yarder.
The Cowboys’ ended their eight-game streak of at least 400 yards on offense, as they finished with 353 yards. However, Dallas answered. With touchdowns when the Redskins pulled out a score on Cousins’ 5-yard pass to Jordan Reed, and again on Cousins’ 67-yard throw to De.Sean Jackson, who had 118 yards receiving.
NFL 2016 Week 11: Washington Redskins vs Green Bay Packers on Sunday, November 20, 8:30 PM, FedEx Field
In a game disrupted by strong winds, Packers and the Redskins quarterbacks and receivers encountered difficult moments. De Sean Jackson hand his team a lead by completing a 17 yard score. The Packers offence was tremendous, but their quarterback couldn’t hold the Redskins aggressive attack which levelled the game just after a few minutes with Aaron Rodgers making a 75 yard score.
The visitors scored another 38 yard goal to make it 10-7, before Jordan Reed handed Kelley a 10 yard goal. The hosts extended their lead just after the start of second half when Dustin Hopkins made a 37 yard goal which was followed by a 44 yard touchdown to widen the gap to 22-10. Kelley converted an extra yard to extend Reskin’s lead to 11points. He also scored another three touchdowns that humiliated the Packers’ quarterback that night.
The attack displayed by both teams’ offence was incredible, but Green Bay’s quarterback wasn’t at its perfect form as many of its starting players were suspended by injuries. The fourth successive loss on the drive leaves Packers two games adrift of Detroit Lions, and one behind the Minnesota Vikings, who won their NFL night games.
NFL 2016 Week 10: Washington Redskins vs Minnesota Vikings on Sunday, November 13, 1:00 PM, FedEx Field
There was a do or die situation for both Minnesota Vikings and Washington Redskins in the game. After losing 3 games, Vikings had to do something big to win. But it was not that easy. Redskins were also fully prepared because they also knew how much they struggled to reach till there this year. But what happened then? Redskins defeated Vikings with final score of 26-20.
Vikings were planning of attack from last week. They worked on extra protection, short passes but there was still a lot of work they had to do for efficiency; but they failed. Vikings failed to punch the ball many a times but somehow they managed to pound Asiata 3 times. Vikings tried a lot to defeat but their most of tries seem to be unsuccessful. Collision is very common during the game within same team as well, but with every collision, players were injured badly. Statically, Washington is one of the worst teams in NFL against the run, but unfortunately, Vikings couldn’t take advantage of it. It is also said that the absence of Captain Munnerlyn is also one of the reason for the defeat of Vikings as they couldn’t manage team properly without him.
NFL 2016 Week 8: Washington Redskins at Cincinnati Bengals on Sunday, October 30, 8:30 AM, Wembley Stadium
The Washington Redskins faced off against the Cincinnati Bengals is one of the most competed matches in NFL history in-front of a crowd of about 84, 488. The match ended in a 27- 27 tie between the two teams. One of the outstanding moments of the match was when Andy Dalton and the Kirk cousins regulation-time shootout turned into a comedy of errors. With just 2: 13 time left, the Washingtons seemed to have won the game when Dustin Hopkins threw his 34-yard goal attempt but it was negated by a Bengals timeout.
On the other hand, the Redskins had the ball with only 1: 11 remaining but Dalton fumbled at the Bengals for 47 on a quarterback. Both teams seemed disappointed as they were trying very hard to outdo each other without much success. Both of the teams defenses were strong making it hard for either team to score. Dalton made 27 of 42 for 284 yards in addition to a touchdown to one Tyler Eifert. Eifert scored nine catches for 102 yards. Both teams were equally strong and determined to prove their dominance by winning. Ultimately, no team could overcome the other and the match ended in a tie. We can only wait to see these teams performances in the upcoming matches.
NFL 2016 Week 7: Washington Redskins at Detroit Lions on Sunday, October 23, 1:00 PM, Ford Field
The Washington Redskins travel to Detroit for the week 7 of the NFL game to take on the Lions. The game was played on Sunday, October 23. History was in the favor of Redskins as they were meeting in the 41st regular season redskins lead the series by 27-13. The Washington Redskins led by the quarterback kirk cousins entered the game with the four consecutive victories under their belt. Destroys lions led by their quarterback Matthew Stafford had also won in their last two games. The lions start with the offense and thereby go head and lift the Detroit Lions to the 20-17 win over the Washington Redskins on Sunday.
The Lions thereby extended the winning to three games. Matthew Stafford, who played an important role as the quarterback and led the team to a win in the last two games has also led the team to one another win with his outstanding performance. He was 18 of 29 for 266 yards has no turnover and one TD. Though Kirk Cousins had also played a good game but was not enough to lead the team to the win. He had a scored a go ahead TD on a 19 yard run in the last minute of the game.In the third quarter of the game, it was looking like that cousins was found to make up for the lost fumble by putting the Washington ahead, but he faked a hand off to Chris Thompson tucked the ball away and run to the right which all messed up.
Cousins finished 30 of 39 for 301 yards with a Fumble and TD. Both teams had lost their top cornerback to an injury. Washingtons josh Normans was knocked out of the game after landing hard on the left shoulder. Detroits Darious slay left the game with a hamstring injury in the second quarter.
NFL 2016 Week 6: Washington Redskins vs Philadelphia Eagles on Sunday, October 16, 1:00 PM, FedEx Field
The battle for second place in the NFC East was won by the Washington Redskins, and though they started the season 2-0, the Eagles have now dropped three straight. Kirk Cousins lead the Redskins to a 27-20 victory; he was good for 263 yards and two scores through the air to bring his team to 4-2 on the year. They have now won their last four games. The Eagles came in with the leagues second-best defense allowing only 266.8 yards and 12.6 points per game, but Washington’s three part running attack consisting of Matt Jones, Chris Thompson, and Robert Kelley ran over the Philly defense for 231 yards which included a 1 yard score from Jones.
Cousins did not have his best game but did connect with Jamison Crowder and Vernon Davis for 16 and 13 yard touchdowns respectively. Jones sealed the game with a 57 yard run with 1:27 remaining. The bigger story may have been the Redskins defense which held the Eagles to just 239 yards and only two field goals. They also sacked Carson Wentz five times. A large part of Wentz’s 179 yards came on a 54 yard pass to Jordan Mathews in the final quarter of play. He was only 11 of 22 on the day. Philadelphia’s only other scores came kick off return of 86 yards from Wendell Smallwood and a pick six from Malcom Jenkins, in the second quarter.
NFL 2016 Week 5: Washington Redskins at Baltimore Ravens on Sunday, October 09, 1:00 PM, M&T Bank Stadium
The Washington Redskins gave a strong performance last Thursday when they beat the Baltimore Ravens 16 to 10 at Baltimore. It was perhaps an uncharacteristic win for the Redskins as their defense comes ranked as 29th in the league. They have however had an okay run for the past few games as this recorded their third straight win after having lost two straight games at the beginning of the season.
The Redskins got off to a rocky start, allowing a touchdown from the opening drive, but quickly regained their composure, and started terrorizing the Ravens with great passes and good movement on the ball. The game changing shift in momentum came in the third quarter when the Redskins were up 13 to 10 thanks to a 50-yard drive, and close to their own 3. Ravens linebacker got in the way of a pass by Redskin Kirk Cousins at the 13, but didn’t manage to keep the ball in his control when he was reaching for the end zone. As a result, the ball went out of bounds and the Redskins moved over 70 yards for a field goal and a resounding 16 to 10 lead to secure the win.
NFL 2016 Week 4: Washington Redskins vs Cleveland Browns on Sunday, October 02, 1:00 PM, FedEx Field
The action went down on Sunday afternoon at the FedExField in Landover. Cody Kessler, the Cleveland Brown quarterback delivered an impressive show was not enough to salvage their 31-20 loss to the more resilient Washington Redskins. Despite the heard earned victory. Cleveland Browns put on an impressive show that can only mean that the victors still have a lot to polish on.
On the first game quarter the discipline and perfect play displayed by the Washington Redskins during the first quarter was great. Two charges landed them into the Redzone, a setback they were unable to shake off during their previous games. Jordan Reed made two stunning touchdowns. Kirk Cousins thrilled the fans with two impressive charging runs on the first two dives. The electric atmosphere ensured that the Browns defense remained on edge for most of the 15 minutes. The Redskins attack passes put a great deal of pressure on the young quarterback, Cody Kessler.
During the second quarter, the Washington Redskins kept their defenders on the field for a great deal of time. The Browns capitalized by using their electric runs to keep the Redskins off balance. Josh Norman failed at covering Terrell Pyror effectively. Cleveland managed to score 17 points. During the third quarter the game was quite stale though the Redskins put out a poor show. In the final period, they managed to get back to a running game.
NFL 2016 Week 3: Washington Redskins at New York Giants on Sunday, September 25, 1:00 PM, MetLife Stadium
Washington wins 29-27 over the new York Giants can rank as one of the greatest achievements in this season. They had an assist from several penalties and dumb plays. The win WAS unfair to the Redskins.
Washington Redskins will be without a perfect receiver. For the last two Wednesdays, Desean Jackson did not practice. He anticipated resting the remainder of this week just as it did with before meeting with New York Giants. He rested for the ankle and knee issues. The rest might cost his team.
The Redskins are now determined to leave New York with Victory. Chris Baker is motivating the team to get back on the right track.
The point that Skins lost both of their home games does not divine well for their first trip on the right track.
Washington has permitted the fifth most first downs, in spite of being in an inferior half of contrasting third downs. The plan predicts they cannot stop on either first, second or third down. Holding Drew Brees and Saints to 13 points require a lot of commitment. For this season the Giants have allowed just 5.3 Yards for each pass attempt.
Some Redskin players are supposedly turning on the quarterback, which indicates where Washington is at through just two weeks.
NFL 2016 Week 2: Washington Redskins vs Dallas Cowboys on Sunday, September 18, 1:00 PM, FedEx Field
The Redskins played on Sunday against the Cowbows, but both sides had good and bad things that everyone knows about. The Redskins were not able to do the right thing in terms of defense. In the first quarter, Dallas outperformed Washington in every sense of the word in the first quarter of the game. The Cowbows knew that the team will increase its power for their useful run game. Mr. Prescott had a lot of time to throw his ball, as Washing hit hard on their important play action as well.
Mr. Hood did a great job on a defense line, as he was working hard to create some powerful moves down the road. This created a lot of inside pressure in the game, which is awesome too. He has been a great addition in this interesting off-season. In the offensive side, we have to say that this was not quite right. The run game did not see a lot of dedication, and Mr. Cousin was not in his rhythm in any way. The strongest evidence was the missed pass to Mr. Crowder. In any case, the answering drive right after Mr. Elliott was truly solid.
NFL 2016 Week 1: Washington Redskins vs Pittsburgh Steelers on Monday, September 12, 7:10 PM, FedEx Field
The Pittsburgh Steelers made their first NFL debut versus the Washington Redskins 12th September 2016, at FedEx Field in Maryland. The Redskins picked Kirk Cousins at quarterback alongside with Jordan Reed and DeSean Jackson in the passing attack. Pittsburgh’s enjoyed their Monday night NFL campaign with a 38-16 win over the Washington Redskins after Bell’s three match drug suspension and De Angelo Williams continuing with his outstanding form. Williams ran for 143 yards and made two touchdowns during Pittsburgh aggressive attack that also showcased three passing tries from Ben Roethlisberger, who struggled for the Steelers after a quavering start.
Antonio Brown’s performance was imposing with eight catches and two touchdowns for 126 Yards, but then again Coach Mike Tomlin was certain to pick Williams’ play. Williams threatened Washington’s defense and made it easier for Roethlisberger, Brown as well as the Steelers’ entire game. Williams’ performance seemed to be his 2015 perfect continuation, in which he topped theNFL with eleven pushing touchdowns and 1,274 yards from tussle.
The Redskins earned one touchdown as well as three field goals and were found inside the red zone five times. NFL match review 2016.
NFL Preseason 2016 Week 4: Washington Redskins at Tampa Bay Buccaneers on Thursday, September 01, 7:30 PM, Raymond James Stadium
The Washington Redskins at Tampa Bay Buccaneers match was shifted due to the prediction of bad weather in Tampa Bay. To the happiness of the supporters, the game though was shifted turned out to be an exciting one. Washington Redskin outplayed Buccaneers in spite of landing a few hours ahead of the kick-off. Right from the first quarter the Buccaneers did not look solid as they fumbled five times. Despite the rain, the Washington managed to take the advantage and win the game by 20-13. The Washingtons were able to play a solid game with 245 rushing yards at the end of the game.
The 23-year-old Rob Kelly was impressive with 16 carries for 99 yards. However, Mike Glenon, the Bucs quarterback, had a difficult time as he could complete only 1 out of 5 passes in the first half. Ryan Griffin was successful in completing 23 of 38 passes with a touchdown and an interception. The Redskins’ scored first with a 47-yard field goal followed by a touchdown by Hopkins to give them a lead of 13-0. Tampa Bay finally opened their scoring with 50-yard field goal. Hopkins did not fail to nail the extra point to give the Redskins’ a lead of 20-3. However, Griffin came to the rescue and scored a 9-yard touchdown. Aguayo nailed the extra point to finish the game by 20-13.
NFL Preseason 2016 Week 3: Washington Redskins vs Buffalo Bills on Friday, August 26, 7:30 PM, FedEx Field
The Buffalo Bills fell short of the Washington Redskins 21-16. The Redskins, coming off a 9-7 2015 record and at the top of a struggling NFC East division, started the contest slow, but found their rhythm in the beginning of the second quarter. With all the controversy surrounding new addition, Josh Norman, all eyes would be rested on him to witness him back up his statements made in a prior interview. He delivered and stepped up to the plate, breaking up an intended touchdown pass to Robert Woods.
Curt Cousins, coming off a new big contract underperformed as he overthrew his receivers and missed targets, also throwing an interception. But his receivers can take some of the blame too. Jordan Reed dropped the football twice (should have been catches). Ryan Grant and fellow receiver, Pierre Garcon both had a drop and the vast majority is expecting big things from these guys this season.
The Buffalo Bills are coming off a mediocre 8-8 2015 record. Quarterback EJ Manuel took the Bills all the way down to the seven yard line in the final 30 seconds, but couldn’t capitalize against a stingy, tenacious Redskins D.
Both squads strap again next week to finish off the preseason.
NFL Preseason 2016 Week 2: Washington Redskins vs New York Jets on Friday, August 19, 7:30 PM, FedEx Field
One of the most exciting games was the one that pitted New York Jets against Washington Redskins last Friday, the 19th of August 2016. The game ended with Jets losing 18-22 to the Redskins. Thursday predictions previously circulated by fans and pundits alike were all proved wrong. New York Jets began their preseason campaign by beating Jacksonville Jaguars 17 – 13 and now fell behind as Washington Redskins started the game without several of their starters, including quarterback Kirk Cousins. The first half of the game began with two touchdowns passes from Colt McCoy to Rashad Ross for the Redskins followed by Kendal Thompson’s one-handed diving catch in the right corner of the end zone.
Several exciting standouts were experienced on both sides. There were minor healthy scratches on either side as well, the most notable of these being Matt Jones receiving a shoulder injury in the first quarter. The exciting Preseason continues with New York Jets playing against New York next Saturday the 27th of August and Philadelphia on September 1st. With this win, the Washington Redskins makes up for the loss against Atlanta on Thursday the 11th of August. A superb win will definitely help to set the pace for the next game against Buffalo this coming Friday, August 26th.
NFL Preseason 2016 Week 1: Washington Redskins at Atlanta Falcons on Thursday, August 11, 7:00 PM, Georgia Dome
The match between the Redskins and Falcons was tight and ugly. The game was played on Thursday night, August 11th 2016. The two teams made their preseason game a remarkable match to watch and talk about. Atlanta Falcons beat the Washington Redskins with a final score of 23-17. Washington Redskins NFL season 2015 recap
Rubert Griffing III’s concussion made him to miss the rest of the 2015 season. Washington Redskins clinched the title of the NFC East Division with a 9-7 record. However, the Green Bay Packers defeated the Washington Redskins in the round that lead to the Wild Card in the playoffs. This score of this game was 35-18. Kirk Cousin set tons of franchise records in the 2015 that we need to mention here. Mr. Cousins led a ninety-yard game winning drive thowring a famous touchdown pass to his peer Pierre Garcon.
Kirk Cousin also led the team to its largest comeback win in the history of this team to a famous 3-30 victory against the powerful Tampa Bay Buccaneers. The quarterback also finished with 4 touchdowns and 317 yards, one rushing and 3 passing. He also set a record of completion in a game with only 33, and then he tied Jason Campbell, who did it in 2007. Fans started to use the phrase “You like that?!” after Kirk Cousin said so before heading to his lock room after the game. He also had a perfect passer rating against the famous New Orleans Saints of 158.3 on November 15.
As you can see, these teams had awesome seasons but they couldn’t go to the Super Bowl. However, they worked hard to go to the postseason, and this is truly remarkable.
NFL 2015 Wild Card Weekend: Washington Redskins vs Green Bay Packers on Sunday, January 10, 4:40 PM, FedEx Field
Packers played with Redskins on Monday and emerged as the winners with a big margin of 35-18. Rodgers started the wild-card game against the Redskins by going 1 for 8. The Packers gained all their 11 yards heading into the next period, and they trailed by double digits.
As the third quarter was coming to an end, and the game became tougher, Aaron Rodgers fired a shot of 15-yard pass to wide receiver Randall Cobb located at the 50-yard line. As the quarter ended, Rodgers couldn’t hide his joy as a smile was evident in his face. Rodgers and his team mates used the 10-play, five-minute, 76-yard and 39-sencong tactic that dominated in the third quarter and the initial stages of the fourth quarter.
Rodgers, spurred by using his quick approach techniques played like a 2-time NFL most valuable player. He drew defensive penalties with quick and smart snaps, making the right adjustments at the scrimmage line and taking the game at hand a way the opponents couldn’t believe. Rodgers threw for a pair of TDs as both James Starts and Eddie Lacy ran for a score. Green Bay then came back to overcome the NFC the Redskins with a win of 35-18.
NFL 2015 Week 17: Washington Redskins at Dallas Cowboys on Sunday, January 03, 1:00 PM, AT&T Stadium
Kirk Cousins once again had the most excellent game of the season as he has been all through, made some quick scores to help the Washington Redskins beat the Dallas Cowboys 34 – 23. He went also to the bench way early in preparation for the playoffs that they head into with his team. Throwing three TDs in the game and left before the first half was over leaving his team to hold on the rest of the play to beat the Cowboys. They are now the NFC East champions and this comes after them winning four straight matches to finish the season on a high as the last time they did this was in 2012.
They will host Green Bay come next Sunday and everyone is just excited about how Cousins has been playing. This marks the Cowboys most losses since 1989 when they were bought by then general manager Jerry Jones. These losses this season have come due to the lack of their Quarterback Tony Romo who is out for a twice broken collarbone. The odds were never in their favor and the Redskins eased through this to ensure that their perfect end to the season is maintained at a high note.
NFL 2015 Week 16: Washington Redskins at Philadelphia Eagles on Saturday, December 26, 8:25 PM, Lincoln Financial Field
Yes, The Washington Redskins are the Division Champions and Kirk Cousins made that pretty clear in the post news conference. Throwing four TD passes is no small fete and Cousins did just that as well as clocking a season high of 365 yards. This saw the Redskins beating the Philadelphia Eagles 38 – 24 and also meant that they completed a successful worst-to-first season. Redskins haven’t won this title in 3years so it kind of well deserved for them which was last in 2012 and a 7 game winning streak saw them clinch the title.
The Eagles had hope of making it to the playoffs as they came into this game as all they needed to do was win this as well as their game against the Giants that is in a week’s time. This win also dashes the hopes of New York making it to the Playoffs. Cousins has been phenomenal for the Redskins and they owe so much to him having gotten 16 TD passes as well as two interceptions in his last seven games. He is a huge asset for the Redskins and they hope for better performance from him as they head into the playoffs. We hope that they replicate this amaizng result that they pulled as they head to the Playoffs.
NFL 2015 Week 15: Washington Redskins vs Buffalo Bills on Sunday, December 20, 1:00 PM, FedEx Field
The Redskins won the game, beatig the Buffalo’s 35-25. Kirk Cousins was the star of the game, he scored four touchdowns. Kevin Durant was not present at the game. However, his support for the Redskins was evident as he tweeted during the game. His tweet read “You like that!” This phrase has developed as a chant by the Redskin fans after they have managed three wins in four games this season. The loss is devastating for the Bills, it assures that they will miss out the postseason again. The players have taken the loss emotionally.
The Redskins offensive line was tested during the game. Morgan Moses, the right guard, and Josh LeRibeus, who plays center, were both injured on Sunday. Redskins also showed several defenses to defeat Bill’s Taylor. The alterations in coverage by the Redskins made it possible for Taylor to sack them only five times. The Redskins were also able to recover the ball after Taylor held it. Within the second half it was observed that the Bills could hardly stay within a striking distance. The Redskins were able to make a 16-yard run missing five tackles. The Bills will have to improve their defense.
NFL 2015 Week 14: Washington Redskins at Chicago Bears on Sunday, December 13, 1:00 PM, Soldier Field
Washington won a very important game, a game that gives them the lead in their division. A division that features three teams looking to go to the playoffs. The only way these teams will get there, of course, is by winning their division. If not, they will lose out on the wild card to either the Vikings or Seahawks. The Bears do not have much of a chance to get to the playoffs, they are technically still in the hunt, but there would have to be a lot of things to happen to help them get there.
Kirk Cousins completed 24 of his 31 attempts for 300 yards of his own, and had one touchdown as well as one interception. He also scored a rushing touchdown in the game.
Jay Cutler completed nineteen passes on 31 attempts, throwing for 315 yards and two touchdown passes and no interceptions in the loss. He also fumbled the ball, giving it to Washington.
Washington scored in every quarter of the game to make sure they did not lose ground in the very tight NFC East race. The Bears, on the other hand, scored all their points in the second and third quarters. The fourteen points that the Bears scored in the third quarter, tied the game up. An field goal early in the fourth quarter sealed the win for the Redskins. They were helped by the Bears’s kicker, Robbie Gould who missed another late field goal.
NFL 2015 Week 13: Washington Redskins vs Dallas Cowboys on Monday, December 07, 8:30 PM, FedEx Field
A low scoring game between two teams who are under performing this season got exciting late. A game winning kick by Dan Bailey of the Dallas Cowboys won the game. The Cowboys, who are in last place in the AFC East, beat the team that is currently occupying first (technically, it’s a three way tie with the Eagles and Giants), the Redskins. Even without Tony Romo, the Cowboys find a way to win.
Matt Cassel completed sixteen passes after 29 attempts, throwing for 222 yards, no touchdowns, and no interceptions.
Kirk Cousins completed 22 of his 31 passes throwing for 219 yards, one touchdown, and no interceptions in the loss.
The game was tied at the end of the second quarter at three points each, and tied at the end of three quarters at six points each. The start of the fourth quarter caused both teams to start scoring like they hadn’t been all game. The Cowboys scored a decisive thirteen points to Washington’s ten to win the game. In the fourth quarter, 23 of the game’s 35 total points were scored in the game. Seventeen of those points came in the last minute and a half. In said last minute and a half, they almost doubled the amount of points they had scored up to that point.
NFL 2015 Week 12: Washington Redskins vs New York Giants on Sunday, November 29, 1:00 PM, FedEx Field
The hyped rivalry between NFL teams New York Giants and Washington Redskins went down on November 29th at FedEx Field, Landover, Maryland. As expected the match was tough. Though Giants put up a good fight they ended up losing 14-20 to their opponents. Odell Beckham in particular had an impressive performance, he marked his 7th career game with a 140+ yards technical receiving. To put it into perspective, he surpassed Jerry Rice’s previous record of 6 such games in his initial two years of career play.
Another outstanding player was Will Tye, he made 45 successful snaps and snagged six catches for the 74 yards. He worked well with the team’s offense, despite 5 dropped passes with three of them coming from Jerome Cunningham, there were also some communication breakdowns which resulted in NY Giant’s ultimate loss. As for Redskins, they showed a better game right from the start and it eventually paid off. They had excellent coordination and team work which worked well in earning the team points. Their win is a major improvement considering that Redskins had earlier lost 44-16 to Panthers in Week 11, they looked unsalvageable but things have changed and now they are a favorite to win NFC East tournament.
NFL 2015 Week 11: Washington Redskins at Carolina Panthers on Sunday, November 22, 1:00 PM, Bank of America Stadium
The Washington Redskins suffered a humiliating defeat at the hands of the Carolina Panthers. 44 – 16 was the final score in a game that saw Cam Newton throw a five touchdown passes that is his career high and see him set a record for the team. The Panthers became the 16th team in the era of the Super Bowl to start 10-0 which also meant that they opened a four game lead over Atlanta in the NFC South. This comes in light of the previous 15 teams to do this going on to the Super Bowl and 6 of them winning everything.
The Redskins could do nothing to stop the devastating loss caused by the Panthers who were just amazing to watch. Forcing five turnovers that lead to 27 points with five sacks of Kirk Cousins and going on to establish what can only be termed as a franchise record by holding the opponents to 14 yards rushing only on 12 carries. Taking on Dallas later on in the week, Panthers’ coach removed most of his key players in the fourth quarter with them 44 – 14 up. It was a game that can only be described as one of the most one sided of the season but then again, the Panthers mean business this season.
NFL 2015 Week 10: Washington Redskins vs New Orleans Saints on Sunday, November 15, 1:00 PM, FedEx Field
The Redskins were able to defeat the New Orleans Saints 47-14 in another breathtaking match on Sunday. After their lose to the Patriots, the Redskins got back to winning ways against the New Orleans Saints in a very thrilling encounter. The quarterback, Kirk Cousins had an impressive day at the office managing to make 59 snaps and playing 100% on offense.
The real question is whether he can maintain his current impressive form. Colt McCoy on the other hand had 5 snaps and played 5% on offense. When it comes to the running back Alfred Morris, he was the player who made things happen in the game for the Redskins. He managed to get 15 carries for 92 yards. When it comes to Morris, the hardest part was waiting. When it comes down to the wide receiver, Jamison Crowder who was a rookie before this game but proved his sceptics wrong by scoring his first touchdown ever, receiving a pass from Cousins from 11-yards.
The Redskins were able to gain big chunks when it comes to utilizing their underneath crossing patterns. The New Orleans Saints need to ensure that they avoid any further losses if they intend to make it to the playoffs. The New Orleans definitely have to improve their style of play.
NFL 2015 Week 9: Washington Redskins at New England Patriots on Sunday, November 08, 1:00 PM, Gillette Stadium
While New England had never scored so little in a game this season, their chance of ending another regular season 16-0 was never threatened. Before Washington could even run a play, New England was up 14 points through an onside kick and an interception.
Washington barely had time to recover; they ended the first half with only 15 yards gained and 7 dropped passes. Washington was only able to salvage a second-quarter field goal before Cousins threw Jordan Reed a 3-yard touchdown that left 25 seconds on the clock for half-time. Cousins ended the game completing only 22 of his 40 passes, gaining 217 yards.
New England, on the other hand, decided to run with all of their newfound momentum to gain the upper hand. Tom Brady ended the game completing 26 of 39 passes, which netted him 299 yards and two touchdowns. With Blount running the ball 29 times for 129 yards, New England had their most balanced offense this season. The game ended 27-10 in favor of New England.
While it is no doubt New England stomped Washington, this wasn’t nearly as bad as the last time Washington played at New England. New England won the game 52-7, had the same record, and wound up going to the Super Bowl. Is it possible that history will repeat itself?
NFL 2015 Week 7: Washington Redskins vs Tampa Bay Buccaneers on Sunday, October 25, 1:00 PM, FedEx Field
The Washington Redskins came from behind to beat the Tampa Bay Buccaneers 31 to 30. This was a game that the buccaneers had very much early in the game made a considerable lead of 24 points only to let it slip and the Redskins win the game. Kirk Cousins, who hadn’t seen even one throw amount to a touchdown this season was the savior of the day when he made that much important pass that carried away the day.
Cousins saw three touchdowns which meant that they made the largest comeback in all of the franchise history. The Buccaneers can only blame themselves for this slip up that was really unnecessary by letting down their guard in a game that they had won way earlier on if only they had the capacity to hold on to the lead. The Redskins wide receiver also saw his moment of light when he caught the first ball of the season for him.
This was a really great game for the Redskins and the win sees them climb up the table but we can’t say the same for the Buccaneers who let slip the largest lead of the season and just give it up to one of the greatest comebacks that we have seen all season.
NFL 2015 Week 6: Washington Redskins at New York Jets on Sunday, October 18, 1:00 PM, MetLife Stadium
The Jets overcame early turnovers to beat the Redskins, 34-20. The Skins could barely move the ball on offense and finished with 225 net yards for the game compared to the Jets’ 474.
The Jets first play on offense was a fumble by Eric Decker. The Washington offense managed to finish a 37-yard drive for the first touchdown of the day. New York responded with an 11-play, 83-yard drive ending with a Chris Ivory touchdown run. The second quarter was a field goal contest with the Skins having the advantage 2-1.
The underdogs from Washington led at the half, 13-10, but their dreams of an upset were quickly dashed in the third quarter. 17 points by the Jets and the Skins were done for the day. The fourth quarter saw the Jets tack on another touchdown on a pass reception by Decker. The Redskins scored a special teams touchdown when Rashad Ross recovered a blocked punt in the end zone.
Chris Ivory was the star on offense for the Jets. He had 146 yards on 20 rushing attempts and got loose for a long 54-yard scamper. Their quarterback, Ryan Fitzpatrick, had a solid day throwing for 253 yards on 19/26 and 2 touchdowns.
The Redskins were playing without their regular starting left tackle, left guard and center on the offensive line. Quarterback Kirk Cousins was constantly throwing short passes under pressure. He finished the day 25/43 for 196. His 4.56 yards per attempt just isn’t enough to win an NFL game. Combined with 34 net yards rushing on an average of 2.0 yards per rush and the Redskins had no chance. Defensively, Bashaud Breeland was a bright spot for Washington as he had a forced fumble and an interception.
NFL 2015 Week 5: Washington Redskins at Atlanta Falcons on Sunday, October 11, 1:00 PM, Georgia Dome
The Falcons won against the Redskins with a 27-26. Out of the seven Washington turnovers, Falcons scored twenty points and the Redskins came down from turnovers to win the game. Their coach acknowledged that winning from a turnovers was really a hard fight. Despite the heartfelt moments displayed during the game, luck was on the Falcons side who got an advantage from an onside kick sealing their win.
They played a very clinical game utilizing their chances well. They were playing defensively and were only running forward when sure they had the chance to make a touchdown. Despite them not appearing as the best team, their plan, confidence and commitment won them the game. They also had to include someone to replace one of their injured players and the included individual made his first start. In less than six minutes in the game, Falcons were leading 24-20.
In the first half, Redskins were leading in turnovers with four and two for the Falcons. however, in the second quarter, the Redskins were presented with more scoring chances but they never utilized them fully. One Falcons player had a very nice display with about six catches and he became number five in the history of NFL history with 15,000 yards receiving. It is clear from this game that, the Falcons were trying to take the home advantage in favor of their fans.
NFL 2015 Week 4: Washington Redskins vs Philadelphia Eagles on Sunday, October 04, 1:00 PM, FedEx Field
Eagles at Redskins rivalry has been in news since 1934. The final match on October 4 2015 was a great victory for the Washington Redskins. Kudos to Quarterback Kirk Cousins who despite fumbling in the beginning, scored the first rushing touchdown of his career. Cousins became the star as he used a fabulous arm drive his team about 90 yards and earn the victory.
Eagles-Redskins matches are always a treat to watch for the fighter spirit in each player but this season has been slightly disappointing from the Eagle’s side. Though they managed to lock their opponents they did not do any magical touchdowns through all the three games. But the Redskins left no stones unturned with some great passes and excellent team work. Cousins along with Ryan Grant provided great yardage and finally he along with Peirre Garcon created the four yard touchdown to win the game.
In this Eagles-Redskins match the team from Washington possessed the ball and controlled it for a good 40 minutes out of the total 60 there by giving the Philadelphia Eagles very less time to play and gain control. The surprise package of the entire show was Kirk Cousin whose retention in the team squad proved to be a wise decision leading the team to victory.
NFL 2015 Week 3: Washington Redskins at New York Giants on Thursday, September 24, 8:25 PM, MetLife Stadium
This was the first victory for Giants, winning by a margin of 11 points; final score was 32-21.
Giants lead through 18-6 in the third quarter when they had their key moment. Wining by two digits entering the second-half time has been their weakness. The Redskins almost made a touchdown which could have turned the game around when they ran from 24-yard line over to the giants’ 34 yard line but Kennard guessed Cousins pass towards Carrier and it was cut off by Unga with only 13.46 left of time to play. Giant’s player Odell Beckam Jr. scored a strike placing the score at 25-6 with an eight-play. From here of noteworthy Manning did a 41-yard-touchdown pass to Randle, Ross return a 101-yard kickoff and a glimpse on Whitlock on defensive tackle.
The game ended at 32-21 whit Manning making 23 of the 32 points, two touchdowns and 279 yards. Odell Beckam made a 30-yard touchdown pass, 262 in the total, making him the 12th in the NFL history. He also manages to catch 79 yards from passes and Randle an impressive 116 yard with only seven catches and a score. The Giants interceptions were made by amukamara and Unga.
NFL 2015 Week 2: Washington Redskins vs St. Louis Rams on Sunday, September 20, 1:00 PM, FedEx Field
Having worked hard to beat the Seatle Seahawks 34-31 in week 1, the Rams found the going tough against the Washington Redskins, to whom they lost 24-10. This was always going to be a fifty-fifty encounter, given that the Washington Redskins had lost their opening game 17-10 to the Miami Dolphins. They were bound to come into the game like wounded lions, which they did in style, taking the first ad second quarters, 10-0 and 7-0 respectively.
In the third quarter, the Rams seemed to have woken up to the reality that they were bound to lose at home. They rallied to take it with a 10-0 score before the Redskins stamped their authority I the game to seal their victory a 7-0 score in the last quarter. Matt Jones was the man to beat on the Redskins side. He ran rings around the Rams defense, opening it up at will. The Rams coach, Jeff Fisher, admitted that their game plan was simply torn into shambles, to say they least. He said that the laid down game plan was only on paper. They could hardly settle down and implement any of it consistently. Going into week three, they have a lot of work to do if they have to bounce back to winning ways. As for the Redskins, they can’t rest on their laurels.
NFL 2015 Week 1: Washington Redskins vs Miami Dolphins on Sunday, September 13, 1:00 PM, FedEx Field
It was an intense match with Miami falling to an early hole with only a single touchdown drive in a game that was dominated by the Redskins. However, everything flipped around with Jarvis Landry. With only 10:22 left on the clock, Landry made a touchdown to give the Dolphins a much-needed lead. They held on to this and managed a 17-10 Victory.
For the first time, Kirk Cousins started as an opener finishing 21 for 31 for 196 yards. He also got two interceptions. After recovering from a concussion, Robert Griffin III was inactive during the match.
In the second quarter, Miami tailed 10-0, made it to 10-7 at halftime and finally pulled even with Andrew Franks’s Kick. This lead the dolphins to force a punt with Landry taking the ball at the center and darting up the middle while dodging any would-be attacker on the way.
DeAngelo Hall, the Redskins CB had to leave because of a rib injury. He however returned to the field and finished the game. CB Justin Rogers also fell victim to injury as he hurt is foot and now faces a possibility of being sidelined for a few days.
Washington Redskins NFL season 2014 recap
The team was once more unsuccessful in their bid for playoffs, as their finish with 4 wins and 12 losses was only a marginal improvement over their last year’s record of 3 wins and 13 losses. After the team placed 4th in their NFC East division, the defensive coordinator for the Washington Redskins, Jim Haslett, was let go, likely because of the team’s lacking defense.
Ironically, one of the few bright sides of the team’s performance was that of Keenan Robinson, the new signal-caller chosen by Haslett himself. While he has previously struggled with injuries, he was shining bright this season alongside Bashaud Breeland, whose prime interceptions against both the Philadelphia Eagles and the Dallas Cowboys were what secured the victories in both games.
NFL 2014 Week 17: Washington Redskins vs Dallas Cowboys on Sunday, December 28, 1:00 PM, FedEx Field
The Cowboys proved victorious in a decisive victory against the Redskins final 44-17. This game was deja vu all over again for the Redskins as they struggled to halt the advance of the Cowboys. The Redskins 4-11 before the game had issues containing the Cowboys early on. The game marked Dallas’s 12th victory of the season and made the total for their on the road winning streak rich 8-0. This makes the Cowboy’s the first team to win as many consecutive road games as the Patriots. The Cowboys used their conventional forces of Romo, Dez Bryant and DeMarco Murray to score. Romo shined with 299 passing yards on two touchdowns and an interception. Murray picked up 100 yrds. Champ Bailey contributed to the Cowboy’s total with a 32 yard field goal.
Later gameplay had Spencer and Randle for the other scores. It was all Dallas throughout the first half. It was a 27-10. Robert Griffin III was able to connect with his favorite target Desean Jackson for a 69 yard TD. A Kai Forbath field goal was the other score for the Redskins. They showed problems maintaining possession of the ball with two fumbles and interception.
NFL 2014 Week 16: Washington Redskins vs Philadelphia Eagles on Saturday, December 20, FedEx Field
The Philadelphia Eagles, who until last week were leading the NFC East, have proved to be a mirage team that has been getting by with its faults until they couldn’t do it any longer. The Eagles loss to the Washington redskins means that they face elimination from the playoffs and they only have themselves to blame.
Missed field goals, penalties and two more turnovers by Sanchez as well as a failure to keep track of his former teammate Jackson DeSean resulted into a 3 point loss to lower ranked Washington Redskins. This was the 3rd consecutive defeat for Eagles and one that gave Dallas a good chance to secure the NFC East.
The Eagles had two roughing passer calls on a third quarter touchdown. In the same quarter, Eagle’s Cody Parkey missed two key field goals in a row. The redskins, who were the better team on the night, played deep coverage. For third time this season, Sanchez lost a fumble and gave up his tenth interception taking the Eagle’s tally to 36 thus making the leading team in turnovers this season. On a positive note for the struggling Eagles, Sanchez set a team record with a career high 37 completions in 50 attempts.
NFL 2014 Week 15: Washington Redskins at New York Giants on Sunday, December 14, 1:00 PM, MetLife Stadium
The 166th meeting between division rivals, Washington Redskins and New York Giants, left the Redskins in despair. Manning was on fire against the Redskins as he hit Beckham with three consecutive touchdown passes and completing 28 of his 39 passes. The passes combined with one overturned touchdown let the Giants to victory in a 24-13 win over the Redskins. The Good news cannot continue with the Redskins’ quarterback, McCoy, who has a neck injury that did not allow him to return to the game. This gave Cousins a chance to play, where he had 4 interceptions and one fumble all in the second half. An early hole from a first-quarter turnover began the Redskins long run to a loss. The Redskins almost blew a touchdown at the end of the first half with a fumble.
Griffin was able to recover it and scramble for an 8 yard touchdown. Unfortunately review of the play showed that Griffin lost control of the ball while diving over a pylon and the play was ruled a touchback. This play caused receiver Santana Moss to storm the officials and be ejected from the game. With the Redskins’ fire extinguished, the Giants took over the second half. A 76 yard drive, with 5 catches, clinched the game for the New York Giants leaving the Redskins on their losing streak.
NFL 2014 Week 14: Washington Redskins vs St. Louis Rams on Sunday, December 07, 1:00 PM, FedEx Field
The St Louis Rams found it easy to dismiss the Washington Redskins in their week fourteen game played on Sunday. The 24-0 mauling of the Redskins was quite a morale booster, although it looks unlikely to revive the slightest hopes for the playoffs. The Redskins were outplayed in all departments by the Rams. They had no response to the marauding Rams. Their offense was kept at bay by the Rams solid defense. However, their defense showed signs of resilience, especially in the first and last quarters of the game, in which the scores were 0-0. The defense could not withhold the Rams offensive pressure in the second and third quarters, soaking in 24 points altogether in the two quarters.
With victory, the Rams showed that their week thirteen 52-0 victory over the Oakland Raiders was not a fluke. But do they have what it takes to sustain the resurgence? One may argue that their two consecutive victories since 1945 were played against weak opponents. Their next game against the Arizona Cardinals will be an acid test for them. Should they bring down the Cardinals, then they have disapproved any doubting Thomases. The Redskin’s loss was the fifth in a row. Can they pick themselves up and overcome the Giant’s challenge in week fifteen?
NFL 2014 Week 13: Washington Redskins at Indianapolis Colts on Sunday, November 30, 1:00 PM, Lucas Oil Stadium

The matchup featured the passing talents of Andrew Luck versus 3rd stringer Colt McCoy who took over after the unimpressive Robert Griffin the 3rd was benched. The game took place in early action on Sunday. It gave fans an interesting performance.
Luck led his team past the Redskins at a 49-27 lead. Luck threw for 370 yards. Luck was really the story of the day who despite two Indiana turnovers on the first possessions Luck threw TD passes that amounted to 30, 3, 48 and 97 yards. McCoy had a slow start to the game but finished quickly. He threw for a total of 31 of 47 passes and reached a career high of 392 yards. All in all the game was fast paced and exciting and left users wondering why Griffin has struggled and second place runner-up for the Heisman Luck has done so well,

NFL 2014 Week 11: Washington Redskins vs Tampa Bay Buccaneers on Sunday, November 16, 1:00 PM, FedEx Field
A young Tampa Bay team traveled to Washington for an early contest. Washington is struggling as they turned the ball over three times and Robert Griffin was sacked six times. Unlike Washington, Tampa only had one turnover, and the quarterback was sacked only twice. Tampa Bay’s dominance is rather surprising because they out gained the Redskins by seven yards. The buccaneers also had more penalty yardage than the Redskins.
Tampa quarterback Josh McCown completed fifteen passes for 288 yards and two touchdowns. The main target for the quarterback was rookie Mike Evans. The young receiver caught seven passes for 209 yards and two touchdowns. Vincent Jackson caught three passes for forty-three yards.
Washington’s offense was led by running back Alfred Morris. He ran the ball twenty times for ninety-six yards and no touchdowns. The running back also caught two passes for thirty-six yards. Robert Griffin continues to struggle as he passed for 207 yards, a touchdown and two interceptions. The quarterback ran the ball six time for forty-one yards. Tampa Bay heads to Chicago, and faces the Bears in the windy city. Washington heads to the west coast with a troublesome 49ers team whom is playing for their playoff life.
NFL 2014 Week 9: Washington Redskins at Minnesota Vikings on Sunday, November 02, 1:00 PM, Mall of America Field
Minnesota and Washington played a back and forth game, trading leads six different times until the Vikings won the game. The biggest highlight of the game was the return of Robert Griffin for Washington. His return was not sensational nor was it bad, it was average. He threw for 251 yards and a touchdown, and ran for twenty-four yards. He had one interception and was sacked five times.
The star of the game for Washington was Alfred Morris. The star running back rushed for 92 yards and two touchdowns. Morris’ co-star of the game, DeSean Jackson caught four passes for 120 yards and a touchdown.
The Vikings had the better players on this day as rookie quarterback Teddy Bridgewater threw for 268 yards and a touchdown. He passed the ball to eight different receivers, and did turn the ball over once. The Vikings all-star for the game was Matt Asiata, as he scored three touchdowns. He only carried the ball ten times for twenty-six yards, but he made it all count.
Washing is heading into a bye week, which they need to help them recover from the last minute loss. The Vikings are getting a bye this week, giving their team a rest. The bye may not be a benefit for the young team as they have just built some momentum to their season and the bye week could stop the momentum they have built.
NFL 2014 Week 8: Washington Redskins at Dallas Cowboys on Monday, October 27, 8:30 PM, AT&T Stadium
Washington Redskins finally outclassed the Dallas Cowboys after numerous tries extending back to 2012 playoffs. The Cowboys had themselves to blame for their disastrous display. The Cowboys, who until the shock loss had a 6 game winning streak, were left speechless and outclassed to the disbelief of many. The Redskins had their intentions known from the start when they registered 3-0 points in the first quarter against the Cowboys. The Redskins had McCoy to thank after the game. He threw a remarkable 45 yard deep pass which was received by DeSean Jackson. This game also saw the return of Romo to the Dallas team after he successfully recovered from a back surgery.
However, the result and hope the Cowboys had with his return were dashed thanks to McCoy. McCoy had a game to remember when he extended his record by registering his eighth straight 100 yard rushing. He didn’t stop there since he had an extra 141 yards rushing and 80 receiving. He also had his fifth fumble of the season at the end of a 36 yard pass inside the Redskins 10 in the first quarter. McCoy threw an extra 23 yards to Garcon who recorded more points and kept the Redskins on edge to their hard fought victory. In the fourth quarter, McCoy put the Redskins 17-10 against the Cowboys with the final straw of the game been settled at 20-17.
NFL 2014 Week 7: Washington Redskins vs Tennessee Titans on Sunday, October 19, 1:00 PM, FedEx Field
The Tennessee Titans were surprised by a struggling Washington Redskins team. The Titans started the game fast and led the game ten to six at halftime. Redskins started the game with the possible return of Robert Griffin, but it did not happen. Griffins replacement Kirk Cousins struggled during the game and was replaced by Colt McCoy, after Cousins threw an interception. McCoy took his opportunity and ran with it to a Washington win. McCoy threw a seventy yard touchdown pass to Pierre Garcon, giving Washington a lead early in the third quarter.
Tennessee took the lead in the fourth quarter with a Charlie Whitehurst pass to Derek Hagan. A one point advantage for an NFL team is not enough points, especially since there was over seven minutes left in the game. Even the game was mistake prone by both teams, there was enough time for Washington to drive down the field for a game winning score. Washington took its chance and kicked a twenty-two yard field goal with time running out to defeat the Titans. Washington has thier hands full as tehy are going against a streaking Dallas Cowboys team on Monday night. The Tennessee Titans will face off against the Houston Texans in a important AFC South contest.
NFL 2014 Week 6: Washington Redskins at Arizona Cardinals on Sunday, October 12, 4:25 PM, U of Phoenix Stadium

Cousins faced opposing QB Carson Palmer in game 6 alongside the tough Arizona defensive line. Cousins who is the back up quarter back for Robert Griffin III has a lot to prove, if he wants to keep his position. This has been the first week that Cousins managed to connect with wide receiver Desean Jackson. The first connection was a 64-yard bomb which Jackson turned into a the 1st touch down for Washington. Cousins manage to throw 3 interceptions, however he completed 24 of 38 passes for a total of 354 passing yards. The second touchdown was Cousins getting the ball to Pierre Garcon for a short 6 yard completion.
Unfortunately, Washington was no match for Arizona’s defense on Sunday night’s game. Cousins was still struggling with keeping possession of the ball, although he did manage to improve his completions compared to his pass attempts. Carson Palmer brought his team to a win of 30 over 20 against Washington.

Coach Pete Carroll’s was penalized heavily, keeping the game closer than it probably should have been. With the win last night Seattle achieved (4-1) status. Washington drops to (1-4.) Even though Washington gave the Seahawks an unexpectedly close game, they have been hampered by injuries with Curt Cousins still in for the injured Robert Griffin the 3rd. NFL 2014 Week 4: Washington Redskins vs New York Giants on Thursday, September 25, 8:25 PM, FedEx Field
The Washington Redskins hosted the New York Giants at their backyard in Washington. However, their home advantage counted for nothing as they were outsmarted 14-45 by the recharged Giants. Their third loss of the season prompted their coach to call for time off the pitch to reflect on the results and to dig in for new strategies going forward. So, this past weekend has been quite a breather for them. They resumed training on Tuesday, still looking dazed by the 28th Thursday loss. Both teams desperately needed victory in this game to put their season back on track.
However, it was the Giants who seemed to have a working strategy for the game. The Redskins were outsmarted, outwitted and outplayed in all departments. Their defense did not have an answer for the explosive offense of the Giants. Neither did their offense trouble the solid defense of the Giants. On Tuesday, they went through the paces for an hour and 15minutes under the watchful eye of coach Jay Gruden. They will rest on Wednesday as a ‘bonus day’, before resuming on Thursday to plot how to get past the Seattle Seahawks come Monday. Their win-loss record for the season now reads 1-3, while that of the Giants is now 2-2. The victory was a great morale booster for the Giants as they prepare to face the Falcons on Sunday 5th Oct.

The stats in this game tell nearly the whole story. Washington had a higher rate of third down conversions (double that of the Jaguars). On fourth down conversions, Washington had one and Jacksonville was unable to convert on their single attempt. With regard to passing first downs, Washington managed to pull off sixteen compared to only four for the Jaguars. Rushing first downs tell a similar story.
The Jaguars were not able to get a first down conversion at all until the last two minutes of the first half of the game which showed off their ineptitude on the field. This was due to a combination of the inability of Chad Henne to convert via passing for the Jaguars and the strength of the Redskins’ defensive units. Overall, the Redskins came out of the gate hot and didn’t let up throughout the entire game. The Jaguars never had a chance to catch up and were stopped at every possible turn by the Redskins.
NFL 2014 Week 1: Washington Redskins at Houston Texans on Sunday, September 7, 1:00 PM, Reliant Stadium
Reliant Stadium in Houston, Texas was the site of a low-scoring affair on Sunday, September 7, at Noon, between the Washington Redskins and the Houston Texans. A dull first quarter had most wondering when the game would really take off, when a blistering 76-yard punt return by DeAndre Hopkins gave the Texans the lead. Top rookie tip Alfred Blue blocked a punt later in the quarter, picked it up, and ran in for a touchdown, cementing the Texan’s lead further before the end of the half.
Washington showed some real signs of fighting back, with Robert Griffin III throwing for 267 yards by the end of the day. The Redskins couldn’t make anything last because of turnovers, giving the ball away twice to fumbles in the second half.
The Houston Texans didn’t need to do much to beat the Redskins this Sunday, and had a pretty tame offensive attack with only 206 passing yards, and Arian Foster running for 103 yards, a great figure for him, coming back from back surgery. With special teams play like they had from Hopkins and Alfred Blue, their offense didn’t need to do much except hold onto the ball.
The second half didn’t have any of the excitement of the first, with the only drama coming from the two Redskins fumbles, and the only score coming courtesy of a field goal from Houston Texans kicker Randy Bullock.
New signings showed some of their potential, with J.J. Watt, recently signed to a massive six-year, hundred-million dollar deal, having a great game with a sack, a PAT block and a fumble recovery. Draft pick Jadeveon Clowney showed some promise in the first half, with a great tackle for a loss, before coming off thanks to injury. There wasn’t much information on the injury on Sunday, with no one even sure what had caused the knock. More recently, it’s been revealed that he’ll need knee surgery, and be out four to six weeks.
After a mild afternoon with both sides struggling to string together good drives, but with some real excitement in the special teams action, the score line ended with the Texans winning comfortably, 17-6. The Redskins will follow on this coming Sunday, September 14, with a game against the Jacksonville Jaguars, while the Texans will be visiting Oakland for a game that will surely test Houston’s run defense. The Redskins will hope to revitalize their offense against a Jacksonville team that has struggled to move the ball downfield.
Washington Redskins NFL season 2013 recap
For the 2013 season the Washington Redskins finished with a record of 3 in 13 which means that they painful failed to improve on the their prior statics of 10 to 6 from 2012. Because this season was worst record the team had achieved in over twenty years, the powers that be decided there must be a major change. In line with this thought process the head coach at the time of the 2013 season, Mike Shanahan, and most of the staff under him after they had completed four seasons as a completed group. This season also concluded there 81st season according to the National Football League records.
With the exclusion of interim coaches, Jay Gruden who was a mere 46 years old at the time, before this point the teams youngest head coach since the hall of famer Joe Gibbs who at the time was only 40 years when he took the position in the year 1981. Previously Gruden held the position of the offensive coordinator for the Cincinnati Bengals from 2011 to 2013 and furthermore he was the first head coach ever to be hired from an offensive position role that was for another team.
Additionally Gruden walked into an offense that ultimately ended up finishing top 10 for the entire NFL in total completed yardage, which would make it a second season victory in a row for the team, with a total of 369.7 yards completed per game making their overall ranking 9th. The new set of training for 2014 will welcome back Pierre Garcon who was a record setting wide receiver who led the entire NFL with a team record of a total count 113 receptions. Furthermore during the 2013 season Garcon became only the third player in the whole NFL history to post a minimum of five receptions in each and every game of this past not so eventful season.
The 2013 offense game also saw familiar faces with the his very strong playing and running of Alfred Morris, who managed to accomplished a total of 1,275 yards of rushing, which ranked him 4th in the NFL overall despite the lacklustre playing of the majority of the team. Morris exceeded his prior, first year on the field, by a little over 1000 yards. He was aided also by player Trent Williams who happened to finish 5th in the NFL for rushing in 2013. It is expected as Morris enters into the 2014 season he will yet again exceed expectations as he currently holds the 9th overall spot for rushing, which is seen a great accomplishment throughout the NFL.
